I have a Dell laptop that has been running FF great for years. I recently replaced the hard drive with an SSD and reloaded Windows 7 Pro and all programs the user had.

Everything seemed to be fine except one issue with Firefox. Firefox would randomly start using 13-15% of the processor. Firefox seems to run just fine even with the high processor usage. Then it would also not shut down properly. It would stay running in the background and after a minute or two produce a crash report. The bigger problem is the processor usage. It causes the processor to heat up and then the fan stays on constantly. Besides the noise, when on battery it runs it down quickly.

I tried all sorts of Firefox fixes. New profiles, uninstalling/reinstalling. Nothing helped. Right now we have no addons at all. Brand new install after deleting all profiles.

I even tried a fresh install in a different SSD and the problem appeared again.

Firefox is the only problem we are having. No other programs including Chrome are having issues.
