Best option-reset or reinstall Firefox?
Because of an unresolved issue with my ISP and their email program (won't keep me logged in) it has been suggested that I reinstall Firefox which I think is a bit drastic. My question is this- would I be better off using the reset feature of uninstall Firefox and do a clean install? I know that either way I will have to reinstall ad ons , plug ins and probably other stuff. So if it were you which option would you take? Thanks Bob

hello bob, a reset is the better option in this situation. but first i would try if you can resolve the situation by the steps described in this article: Websites say cookies are blocked - Unblock them
Philipp-I followed all the directions(at least I think I did) and Netzero webmail will not keep me logged in.Each time I leave the message center and then go back to it I have to log in all over again. Question-when I went into options/privacy and brought down custom settings,I checked the entries for accept cookies from site but what about these entries-remember browsing and download history, remember search and form history, clear history when FF closes and keep cookies until-- Do I check these or not? To tell you the truth I never saw this problem when I was using Win.8 with FF 33.1.1 but for some odd reason Win.8 chose to upgrade to 8.1 without asking. That is when this issue really started. Any other suggestions? Bob
ok, if the first article didn't help then please perform a reset: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings
Thanks a lot.Resetting FF seems to have cleared up problem. Lets hope it lasts. Bob
Details like websites remembering you (log you in automatically) are stored in a cookie.
Let all cookies expire when Firefox is closed to make them session cookies.
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Keep until: "I close Firefox"
Create a cookie 'allow' exception for cookies that you would like to keep.
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Exceptions
In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear recent history:
- do not clear the Cookies
- do not clear the Site Preferences
- Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings
Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.
Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you would like to keep.
