Then you can deselect the tab you do not want opened again. Here's how to change the setting:

(A) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(B) In the search box above the list, type or paste sess and pause while the list is filtered

(C) Double-click the browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes preference and enter 0 (that's a zero) and click OK.

Note: Please don't customize any other sessionstore preferences to zero, or you might lose the ability to recover your closed windows and tabs.

It is hard to know whether to trust such dialogs, but I've attached a typical one for comparison.

What is not typical is to be trapped with an incessant number of these dialogs. If you have that issue, there are a couple workarounds you could try other than killing Firefox. However, I'm not sure that is your issue.

If the problem is easy to re-create, could you post the URL(s) of the problem site(s)? If you think they might be malicious, add spaces around the periods in the host name (e.g., www . evil . com) so they can't be accidentally visited.
