Missing folders in Thunderbird that only appear in my webmail

Přidáno

I've been using Thunderbird for a number of years on my laptop without any real issues.

last night there was some kinda of crash (with thunderbird) and 95% of my inbox folders were suddenly missing.

I checked my "webmail" and thankfully they're there.

I decided to uninstall Thunderbird - but each time I reinstall it just loads back about 5% of my folders. Nearly all of them are missing.

Im not sure how to wipe everything completely and start again, nothing seems to work. BTW, my O/S is windows 10 and my laptop has been working fine. Its just thunderbird that Im struggling with.

Any help appreciated!

Dave

If you right-click the account in the folder pane, Subscribe, click Refresh, do the missing folders appear to check (subscribe)?

i have a similar problem having lost half my folders after deleting and restoring the main account. How can I recover these folders together with their email contents?

Subscribe is only an option for IMAP accounts. POP only downloads the Inbox. Check Server Settings/Server Type in Tools/Account Settings.

Hello, I have a similar problem which just poped up. Non IMPA folders are missing. My non-expert view is that they dont seem to be read by Thunderbird. I provide a picture of "Local folders" as seen in the Thunderbird folder pane and another picture of the "Local Folders" folder view in the Profiles folder tree as seen by the Explorer App in Win10. In the later I marked the folders which are present within Thunderbird i.e. plenty are not shown. Any suggestions?

Cheers /Krister

I have the same problem. I followed the advice above: right-click on the account, click Subscribe... then scroll through the list of folders and check the ones I want to re-subscribe to (why and how did they get unsubscribed?) then click the Subscribe button, then click OK. I see the folders briefly flash in the folder view, then go away. When I close the app and then re-open it, I see all the folders appear, then go away.

Do I need to remove the account and then add it again? Hopefully not.

If you access the account through webmail, do these folders appear and contain readable messages? In the Subscribe window, click Refresh before you check off the folders, as this should display the current IMAP folder structure.

Yes, the emails are readable, though oddly enough nothing in those folders can be found by search in the webmail interface. We're using SmarterMail for the mail server.

I am the admin of the email server so I just went into the admin interface and initiated a re-index of my account. Let's see what happens.

Hi again, any ideas about this? Observe these are local folders not visible in Thunderbird but present in the Explorer viewer. See provided pictures. They are not visible via any web mail. Cheers /Krister

Can't remember exactly how I fixed this problem, but I suggest you do the following, if you haven't done so already. Close and restart Thunderbird. Restart your computer. Be sure you expand all folders. Sometimes, missing folders are compacted under another folder and so are not immediately visible. Hope this helps.
