I lost all speed dial bookmarks and groups with new actualization. How can I recovery it?
Already tried to copy old profiles and nothing works...
Thanks in advance.

Why did this happen? Did you do a refresh of Firefox?
Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox?

Separate Issue; Your System Details shows;
Installed Plug-ins
LabVIEW 2011 Netscape Plug-in for Win32
LabVIEW 9.0 Netscape Plug-in for Win32
Having more than one version of a program may cause issues.
You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.
Thanks for your answer FredMcD.
This happen after a FF update.
It has happened some months before for the same reason, but I recovery a old profile. This time it doesn't have any profile folders in the appdata mozilla folder...
Very strange.
I already did a refresh but it didn't make a difference.

These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.
These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox
FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.
OPIE {web link} Import/Export extension preferences
Thanks.
Yes I have that folder in deskop but I think it only has backup files after the lost of "dials"
Going to try.
Maybe FEBE can pickup some previous backup?
Back to here soon.
I have a FF profile folder from 26-01-2014
Already copied to profile folder and changed the name to the actual one. Nothing happen...
Not the right way to do it?
It is usually best not to copy the full profile folder, but only restore files with personal data that you really need.
You can recover these files from the Old Firefox Data folder on the desktop to recover some of data from your previous profile.
- bookmarks and history: places.sqlite and the backups in the bookmarkbackups folder
- other SQLite files like cookies.sqlite (Cookies) and formhistory.sqlite (saved form data)
- logins.json and key3.db for the passwords
- permissions.sqlite and possibly content-prefs.sqlite for the permissions and Site Preferences
- cert8.db for stored intermediate certificates
- sessionstore.js for (pinned) tabs

Thanks, the problem is there's no old profile. Don't understand why??
Where were the "speed dials" displayed, for example, on your home page, on the new tab page, etc.?
If these were not the tiles displayed on the new tab page based on your browsing history or sites you pinned there, most likely this feature was either:
(1) On a website, or (2) Generated by an extension
A Refresh removes extensions and many custom settings, so in order to know what to restore, we need more information on the details of what you lost.
By the way, Refresh normally moves your old profile folder to the Windows desktop, inside an Old Firefox Data folder. Do you see anything like that?
Firefox 41 changed how the new tab page works, so if you were previously setting the browser.newtab.url preference in about:config to a website, starting in Firefox 41, you need an add-on for that.
Here are some options (I learn of more all the time):
- If you already use either the "Classic Theme Restorer" or "Tab Mix Plus" extension: There is an option somewhere (!) in its extensive settings dialogs to select a different new tab page.
- If you want to use your home page on the new tab: Try https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage/
- If you want to set a different page or a completely blank page: Try https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-override/
- If you want the cursor to move into a search box in the page: Try https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/custom-new-tab/
Please only use one of these methods at a time, otherwise there may be conflicts and dysfunctionality.
Setting up New Tab Override and Custom New Tab
After installing one of these extensions, you need to use its Options page to set the desired new tab page (instead of using about:config).
Open the Add-ons page using either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Cmd+Shift+a)
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the right side, find New Tab Override or Custom New Tab and click its Options button. (See first screen shot attached.)
New Tab Override
Depending on the height of your screen, you may need to scroll down to enter the desired address into the form. (See second screen shot attached.) For example:
- Page thumbnails (default) => about:newtab
- Blank tab => about:blank
- Built-in Firefox home page => about:home
- Any other page => full URL to the page
Then tab or click away from that form field and you can test using Ctrl+t.
Custom New Tab
Entering your preferred home page address is simple. If you do not check either of the boxes, the extension will set the focus in the page so, for example, the cursor will be in the Google search box. (See third screen shot attached.) I had to exit Firefox and start it up again before Custom New Tab started working, but this may have been due to testing so many extensions back-to-back.
The most important for me, is to recovery the groups and bookmarks of Speed Dial or Fast Dial. After this situation now I'm not sure which one I used...
Going to study your info jscher2000, thanks.
The old firefox data was created only after the refresh, and the refresh only was made after the crash of speed dial or fast dial.
"Where were the "speed dials" displayed, for example, on your home page, on the new tab page, etc.?"
In home page with several folders/groups. The bookmarks were not automatically generated. I've personalized/configure all. Going to try to find a image of my browser before the crash/update.
I don't find any photo, but it was like this with many groups. So it was Speed Dial and not Fast Dial.
I'm not sure how you generated that screen shot -- was it from data from an older profile? If you check the Add-ons page, what is the name of the extension that generates the display?
It's the extension Speed Dial.
This screenshot is only an example. I had several groups and inside them several bookmarks.
It's this one?

I don't know where it stores its data, but probably in your profile folder, possibly in a database. If no one here is familiar with the file you need to locate, you could try this lengthy thread at mozillaZine: [Ext] Speed Dial 0.1 : 4-15-2007 • mozillaZine Forums.
This thought is a bit late, but... occasionally after a Windows update users will report that Firefox only has partial access to its regular profile data. Shutting down and restarting Windows has fixed the permission issue in those threads.
Yes jscher2000 is that addon.
I tried a restart after the problem and don't work.
This has happen before to me, always after a FF update. Don't understand how FF let's an update do this...
Going to see your forum link. Thanks.
