I was wondering if there is anyway to rearrange the user interface in Thunderbird. I'd like to put my inbox folder on the left and the email opens on the right, so side-by-side instead of Ontop of the email. This is for a client who is switching from outlook and trying to make it as much like their outlook as possible.

I upgraded Thunderbird recently to 60.0, Somewhere along the line I lost an icon. When I was creating/responding to a message I had the "Return Receipt Requested" icon on a tool bar. It is now not there and I cannot customize the toolbar to add it back. How do I get it back on my toolbar. I know I can go to the Options menu item and add it from there but I would like to get it back on the toolbar? Thank you

email remover was apparently removed in program updates. Downloaded new June 2018 tool, but it's a big mystery on where to look for it on T-Bird dashboard, and what to do with it once located. When I open the downloaded file, T-Bird creates an email!

When TB receives new mail there is a standard notification pop-up for a short time. However this is not persistent (and not intended to be) so doesn't help if you are looking elsewhere at the time.

In previous versions of TB the minimised window icon changed when you had new mail. This was removed and replaced by plugins (eg. I was using FireTray for a while but it is no longer supported). I cannot find any current plugin to do this. I think at least TB should set the window urgent hint so the window manager can indicate there is something new in the standard way. This is really core functionality and unless Mozilla are going to maintain a plugin themselves, I think it should be part of the main program?

Hi: I had the newest Update of Thunderbird Ver 52.7.0 installed in my PC running Windows 7 - Home Premium and was shocked that during this Update installation my foreign language Dictionary (Czech) installed in Thunderbird before this automatic-updating has disappeared. This is a very serious Software flaw because I was using this Dictionary for many years, and during several years I've added many unique foreign language words & terms and it is therefore very important for my correspondence with people abroad. My critical questions are:

1) does Thunderbird keeps a back up-copy of such an important part of this Software somewhere in the Thunderbird installation Directory so that I could recover/re-install it? 2) What are the specific step-by-step guidelines to install any additional Dictionary into Thunderbird? I've spent MANY HOURS trying to install a new copy of the Czech Language Add-On following the suggested procedure but it does NOT work - have anyone from the Programmers checked if this installation procedure actually works? An earlier advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am running on TB release 60.5.0.

In the TB previous release, TF&SC worked fine for text (font) size control on incoming and outgoing messages. In the latest TB release TF&SC does not support the text (font) size.

The text size is miniscule. I can use the "ctrl +/-". However, this procedure is a drag when TF&SC has worked flawlessly in the previous TB release.

Is it not time for TB to have built-in text/font sizing control?

Your help on this issue would be appreciated.

Any idea when you will be adding a feature to message filters whereby we can filter messages by file type in attachments i.e. delete all email with attachments containing extension .gz .7z etc

After the last update, Thunderbird no longer requires a password be entered to sign into my emails. Hence all my emails are available to whoever opens Thunderbird. How do I get the Profile Password feature back again? This has nothing to do with the Master Password.

For example:
Consider the following: I have multiple mail accounts, want to search multiple "and" and "any" criteria simultaneously.

One rule single rule would look like this:
Search for messages in:
Inbox on account 1
Sent on account 1
Inbox on account 2
sent on account 2

match All of the following:
to does not contain: soandso@email.com
subject does not contain: "this string"

Match any of the following:
to contains: someone@somewhere.com
from contains: someone@somewhere.com

I'm talking about "Sender" header and not "From" header!!! https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4021#page-7 The only way i found is to look for the source message, The best thing is to see it in the header of the message and/or in the grid of the messages.

Please let me know how to get the same view as the uploaded image in TB? So, basically all the mails in TB should be: a. Sorted by Received Date (Today, Yesterday, Friday etc.) b. The mails should display the sender name on top with subj line below

How can I show my Favicon in my sent emails in the subject line? It shows up in the browser but I would like it to show in the sent emails subject line. Thank you.

I have 14 email accounts .. which I would like to group by Work, Personal, Project etc. Postbox has got the account groups and so does mail bird. IS there a way there is a solution for Thunderbird?

Since my Tbird updated to 60.4.0 (64-bit) the spell checker seems to have lost its marbles. If I switch from British English Language (Marco Pinto) to English US the spelling works correctly apart from being American.

When in Eng GB anything pluralized or some words having ed at the end are marked as incorrect. I have tried stripping out the English dictionary and re-installing with no improvement. The same dictionary in Firefox works OK.

Have saved a profile, I wish to access the data following reload of operating system and Thunderbird. The method suggested for accessing the Profile Manager (on the support page) only succeeds in opening Thunderird, so unable to manage/create a profile. Help in resolving issue would receive significant appreciation. Cheers, cornish

I use offlineimap to fetch messages from my organization's mail server. This saves a copy of each mail message under a folder within my home directory.

Is it possible to open a specific mail file in Thunderbird from the command line (Mac OSX)?

I see `/Applications/Thunderbird.app/Contents/MacOS/thunderbird` has a `-file` option, but that doesn't do what I was hoping - it opens a Compose window with the file as an attachment.

Thunderbird does have the ability to properly open and display these email files if I open a given file via the "Open Saved Message" menu item under File in the UI.

Is there a CLI equivalent to the File -> Open Saved Message action?

When I try to install the Thunderbird Dutch language pack as an Add-On , then I got the message that the language pack is corrupt. It's not possible to download this add-on.
