I have a desktop shortcut and a Taskbar shortcut (WIN XP - SP3). Mostly when I click on either of these I get the timer for a few seconds then NOTHING. I wait and wait. In frustration, I open Task Manager and there is firefox.exe taking about 100,000K. If I END this process, Firefox will usually then start off the shortcut, but asks if I want to restore the previous session or start a new session. This is driving me mad! I can't rely on Firefox starting when I want to browse. Any help appreciated, please!

Thanks Verotikaa Yes, the Task Manager option works, but it's a painful extra step and it shouldn't be necessarily almost every time I want to use Firefox. I tried shutting Firefox down via the FILE -> EXIT menu but no benefit. I do have some Add-ons, downloaded from Mozilla web site, and your thoughts on one of those being incompatible with the current Firefox version (3.6.12) is a good possibility - thanks for that suggestion. I guess if all else fails I could download the full latest version and reinstall. Again, a nuisance.
