Unable to connect to government site

I am unable to connect to the following URL All other browsers seem to work.

I ran an SSL Labs test and it confirms that all tested versions of Firefox fail. I would like to know if anyone can spot something that might allow me to connect by temporarily relaxing the security checks in Firefox for this site.

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or it could be Hardware Acceleration. How to disable Hardware Acceleration {web link}

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All Of them.

If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.

Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is, detective.

Neither of these appear to be the issue. I disabled hardware acceleration, all add-ons and plugins, and even tried the "Restart with Add-ons Disabled..." option to be sure I wasn't missing one. I still get the same response.

The fact that the SSL Labs report also shows Firefox failing makes it improbable that it is something specific to my environment.

Hi tom.propst, the PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR code indicates that the server or a router between Firefox and the server told Firefox to terminate the connection (sent a RST).

One possible reason is when the server does not support any encryption ciphers in common with Firefox. You can see the ciphers that Firefox supports by opening this other test page:

Unfortunately, no overlap. So the server does not support connections by Firefox at this point. You'll have to use a different browser.

  1. Clear the cache
  • Click the menu button. and select Options. ...
  • Select the Privacy & Security panel.
  • In the Cookies and Site Data section, click Clear Data….
  • Remove the check mark in front of Cookies and Site Data. ...
  • With Cached Web Content check marked, click the Clear button.
  • Close the about:preferences page.

2.Goto safe mode:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode.

I am also able to connect to that domain however the password change page is only on the problematic domain as far as I can tell. That's the only reason I need to go to that site as they require periodic password changes.

You can consider to contact that website and ask them to update their security and support modern cipher suites and possibly TLS 1.3.

I have the same problem with a website I was able to access this morning. Later I declined to use Kaspersky protected window, and now when I try to get back to the same website to login the PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR occurs. Only for Firefox. The website has a 2 page login and the second page which gets the password is the one giving the error. Could this be an interaction issue between Kaspersky and Firefox? I have tried: clearing the cookies and cache in Firefox, turning off Kaspersky and the also the secure connection, changing the Firefox Network setting to "auto detect proxy settings for this network" ( enable DNS for HTTPS was already enabled), entering the website as an exception for Kaspersky. I still get this error when trying to login. Since I was able to finally find Internet Explorer (been so long I forgot the file name), I was able to login but I would greatly prefer to not have to do this. Being able to access the site through another browser suggests the issue is with the software on my machine and not their server. Any help would be appreciated.
