I use yahoo only for news articles. As of about 2 weeks ago or so, anytime I access their site, my computer completely freezes. I can't even ctr+alt+del to open up task manager. My only solution is to force shut down the computer. This issue does not occur on any other site.

Hi tony9, Yahoo seems to be heavy on the resources. I just went there and it started two new processes and is using an additional 300+ Mb of memory, but, my computer didn't freeze. Take a closer look at your Performance settings in Options on the General Page. And refer to this article for some ideas: Firefox's performance settings

Firefox also has it's own Task Manager which can help identify resource usage: Menu -> More -> Task Manager

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Did this help?

While you are in safe mode;

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.
