everything is working except the video. the audio is playing, i can hear sounds but the video won't work. it's like the video starts, then it won't move instead it'll blink. in the screenshot, u can see something has appeared but that is the only thing it'll show while blinking. i don't know how else to explain it but it is something like this.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?

I note you have quite a lot of plugins. Firefox safe mode does not disable pkugins so also try disabling all your plugins whilst you are in Firefox's safe mode.

Some video may need Flash Player, so you may need to check with only the ShokwaveFlash plugin enabled. Note that YouTube will work on Firefox using what is known as HTML5 and does not need FlashPlayer.

Try these two test pages

I suggest you try then with just FlashPlayer enabled in Firefox's safe mode, and in compare in your ordinary mode with Plugins enabled.

Note also that historically RealPlayer has not always worked well with FlashPlayer. (I did not try to check whether your RealPlayer plugins are up to date, but that is something you should check.)

Have you tried this already ? Firefox turned a media thing off from version 48 and up. Way to fix firefox media

If that does not work you could try if it will be ok with an older version. Here is how.

Testing Firefox, Backup your firefox

You got problems with an updated version of firefox and want to test if it is because of the update.

Ok here is an easy way to test. Simply get yourself the version you used before updating "as Portable". Download site for various versions of portable firefox

After download your fox portable is here: C:\Users\Your Account Name\Downloads\FirefoxPortable64-47.0.1

Now on your Win10 go to your installed account profile here, Win 10; C:\Users\Your Account Name\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\o65hyi78.default [You have different number]

The folder that has .default behind it is your saved logins and bookmarks. Right click copy that folder

Here is your portable profile folder, do paste inside it, to copy your profile to it: C:\Users\Your Account Name\Downloads\FirefoxPortable64-47.0.1\FirefoxPortable64\App\DefaultData\profile\

Inside the root folder are 2 firefox links, but go to this one the portable does not have your profile: C:\Users\Your Account Name\Downloads\FirefoxPortable64-47.0.1\FirefoxPortable64\App\Firefox\firefox

Now you and created a backup of your bookmarks and saved passwords, And you can test if fox works on the old version. And you can use the portablefirefox in the main root folder to start without your profile in it, so then you can test ;)

You can check the Web Console ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Web Developer) for error messages.

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to generate a fresh log.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Using old versions of Firefox is not really safe and so not recommended. It is slightly safer just using an old portable version for some temporary troubleshooting. That is especially true if you use portable only from a memory stick.

The Firefox portable site has its own support forum and also help articles about how to install it on a PC or run it from a memory stick. Note for test purposes you need not try to get portable to use your original profile. Also note using an old version of portable does NOT show the fault was because of Firefox changing versions. Others are not seeing your problem.

Your best course of action may be to answer cor-els question and provide any error details you then see
