can't sign in to Thunderbird

I downloaded Thunderbird mail but it will not let me sign in with the passwords I use for my Gmail and aolmail. It does not seem to have the option of letting me a new password.

Passwords are maintained by your email provider. You'll need to login to your account via webmail to change the password.
