How do I delete a web browser. Ask.com keeps popping up, interrupting my connections

In order to get a download to work, I had to agree to make Ask.com my default web browser. Now it keeps popping up whenever I'm Online, interrupts downloads, makes things disappear. I want to delete it.

Hi, Ask isn't a browser, but it can be a pest! You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one. Windows 8 has antivirus built-in already.

Note that not all removal programs will detect all malware, so you may need to run several or all of them.

After removal you may need to reset your home page and search, which you can do by running the add-on SearchReset.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
