Global Search results display but do not open archived messages in local folders.

I have several IMAP email accounts which I archive to local folders. The archives are configured for yearly folders with "Keep existing folder structure..." enabled. The archiving process removes the message from the server and a sole copy is placed in the archives.

When using Global Search, the archived messages show up in search results. However clicking on them yields empty conversation lists and so they cannot be opened. To access these messages through search, I have been using the Search Messages feature on the Local Folders which finds the same messages and allows the messages to be opened.

Why do Global Search results fail to open?
