Firefox does not open the Save Dialog for a Download

Hi community!

i have recently migrated my operating system from Windows7 64bit to Kubuntu 15.04 64bit. i have moved my complete firefox profile folder to the new installation - that all went great (all my open tabs and the other things are fine!)

i only have one problem: i get now Save Dialog- if i click on a down-loadable thing i first get the 'opening xxxxx' Dialog (text: you have chosen to open: xxxxx..... would you like to save this file? ) if i click the 'Save File' button nothing happens.

i have set General - Downloads to 'Always ask me where to save files'. and i think that is the problem: Firefox stores the location where it last time saved things for this website - so in this information there are my old windows paths - but this parts are not available on linux...

if i change the Download option to Save files to 'my Download-folder' all is working fine.

so is there an option somewhere to reset the webside-specific download locations?

in about:config filtered by 'browser.download' this are all 'userset' things: browser.download.panel.shown: true browser.download.panel.firstSessionCompleted: true browser.download.manager.alertOnEXEOpen: true

browser.download.useDownloadDir: false browser.download.lastDir: /home/stefan/Downloads browser.download.dir: /home/stefan/Downloads browser.download.importedFromSqlite: true (this could be the 'problem'?) browser.download.save_converter_index: 3

iam able to doe about:config changes and also can do changes directly in my profile folder if needed

thanks for your time and help

sunny greetings stefan

With Firefox closed - inspect the contents of the prefs.js file for preferences that have the Windows file path. Delete those preferences, then start Firefox.

hi the-edmeister, thanks for your reply. i searched for C: (the only harddrive i had in windows) and found some paths.. but only in addons (mainly some 'event-soundfiles) - so not in any Firefox internal things.

where are the site-specific 'save to' paths are stored? at mozilla zine i think i had read something about the places sql file.. is it possible to 'browse' this file in some way?
