Hi guys, I while ago (actually quite a while) I posted about spam classification of incoming list emails from users with .eu tld's (and one or two others with much rarer occurence). Nothing I was able to think of doing would convince Thunderbird to accept them, until... out of desperation I created a second profile with just one of my several emails - the one that exhibited the rejection behavior - as a Hail-Mary, and it worked. So now, I open TB with the second profile (with the only account that brings in that particular list mail), filter the "offending" emails into their proper folders (I keep everything!), then shut down and reopen with the main profile. It's a bit tedious. My questions are: 1. Where does TB keep its profile definitions, and 2. What should I be looking for to prevent TB from rejecting emails with .eu or other hip and trendy, exotic tlds ?

Many thanks Julian O.

Dear thunderbirders!

With the increasing amount of phishing emails (and them getting better), I wonder if there is an option/extension in thunderbird, that helps me to faster decide if an Email is legitimate or not. It's about debunking the embedded links:

I'd like to not only see the link text but always see the full hyperlink (or only the domain of it) directly in the mail-text. I know that the link-adress is shown at the bottom if I hover over the link, but sometimes I'm simply not fully attentive while reading my mail, so I forget to check this....

e.g. Instead of the text " now press <<here>>" where <<here>> is the link, it would show "now press domainname:<<here>>

or enforcing that after pressing the link, a pop up opens that shows the domain name in bold and one has to press OK/not OK...

I know that may render some emails rather unreadable, but maybe with a keyboard shortcut, one could then quickly disable it...

Just thinking out loud... does this make any sense?

I didn't see another question that quite addressed this so I'm asking. Thunderbird is always asking for a password when I open up the program. Looking in Privacy and security settings both the incoming and outgoing server have the correct password stored. When I reenter the password into the box things will be fine until I reopen the program and it will ask me for the password again. Is there a way to stop the program from asking for my password constantly?

Trying to remove master password. Got set in error as windows pop up while typing message; hence, no idea as to what it would have been set to.
I am somewhat sure this command has been changed, but unable to find reference to 77.0b3.

I got a email from the University of Colorado saying I would not be able to access my CU account after July 1st, 2020 using Thunderbird. I would have to go to Outlook on the web to access my CU email account. I use Thunderbird for my Gmail and CU account as of now. Is there a way of changing the settings in my CU account so I can continue to use Thunderbird to access my CU account instead of going to Outlook on the web? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks Don

Hello, In Thunderbird I have a column showing the sender of an e-amil I receive. I like to have another column that shows me the actual sender's addresse. This helps me to recognize some sort of SPAM faster. I my German version it's called "Absender[@]" I select it and there it is. After I shut the program and open it again, the collumn is either empty or it vanishes completely. I have to select it again. This is a drag. Can I do anything against that?

I'm using WIN10 Home Update 1909

Thanks

Windows 7 Premium Home Edition (64-bit) (I know, I know - use Bitdefender and Malwarebytes - systems too old for M$ #10 Grabbing For Dollars), TB 68.8.0 (32-bit).

Database wouldn't let me add or update passwords. Added KeyPass (Password editor add-on outdated, so removed). Couldn't log on to one account. Get "Enter Your Password" with notice under input "You are logged ou of your password database (it may be locked), then a box "Launch Keepass", click it and nothing ... the box just sits there. Without KeyPass, it just asks for the password and you get in.

I erased all the accounts in the "Options" - "Security" - "Saved Passwords", no problem. I just can't put them back or add any. I re-installed TB 68.8.0 over itself and nothing changed.

I know you folks are under presure like us all, but please see if there's an out-of-the-box fix for this besides ripping it out and doing a total re-install of TB.

Thanks in advance for being thee and stay safe.

Has there been any thought in adding more security into accessing Thunderbird. Granted "standard email" is not that secure. However you still do need proper credentials to access the web interface of servers and it is generally stored encrypted (of varying degrees) on their system. There does not seem to be parallel to it on the local side with Thunderbird, at least without installing encrypted partitions etc.

Would it be possible for Thunderbird to use an encrypted profile (database) to store the email and then require a "master password" to open Thunderbird and access that mail?

Hi,

For a number of months now my Thunderbird installation has been playing up. I have used Thunderbird without issue for several years, however now, whenever it downloads emails, any content (other than simple text) is automatically deleted out of it. For a split second, as the email is being retrieved, I can see all (graphical) content, however less than a second later, it all disappears, and an empty box where the image/link used to be remains in its place. I have read about Thunderbirds "protect your privacy" and content security, but contrary to the instructions therein, there is no means for me to 1. Re-enable content (there is no blue preferences bar present at any time in the email application) 2. Such preferences anywhere in the settings that I can find.

This is extremely frustrating. I left it for a while hoping that an eventual Thunderbird software update would resolve the issue, but it hasn't. how do I go about restoring the content of these emails? Note I realize that security is important, however we are talking about known good companies that I regularly deal with, and their content is stripped out with no means for me to disable or opt out of this infuriating bug/feature.

I am running Ubuntu 18.04 and the latest version of Thunderbird (everything on my machine is kept 100% up to date)

Thank you

This was never an issue but the last 3 months all emails from a particular sending keep getting sent to spam. I have added the sender to my contact list. I keep marking the emails as "not junk" while they're in the spam folder and they get moved into the "inbox" but the next one that comes in goes straight to spam. What else can I do to get them to stop going into spam? I would think that after 3 months the adaptive system would have learned to adapt.

Thunderbird scam alert is inaccurate and far too broad. It's labeling my PHP email sent by my server to my own email account. It's the same server sending & receiving. What trigger is it looking for? Either Mozilla needs to fix this or tell me what to avoid in sending PHP mail. There are no links to external images. All images are sourced as a "data:image". How can this be fixed? Turning off scam protection for each email is NOT the solution.

Thunderbird 68.8.0 on Updated 64bit Win 10. TBird is 32b. Opening TBird gives the error:

Sending of password for user myusername@earthlink.net did not succeed. Mail server pop.earthlink.net responded: Pass required for azgold@earthlink.net The only option is "OK" which brings up

Login to server pop.earthlink.net with username myusername@earthlink.net failed with options "Retry, "Enter New Password" and "Cancel" Clicking retry always succeeds and mail is then retrieved. As long as TBird stays open there are no more errors. Problem comes back next time opened.

Seems to have started this only recently after an upgrade and adding the second account. Unsure if either of these relates to the problem.
