Hello! A relatively recent occurence. <Search> finds in the usual way, producing a list with blue highlighted headings. However more than 50% of the time, clicking on the highlighted text opens the expected tab, but with no content. Any suggestons please? Win 10 64, up to date, and v78.5.0

Why would an addon need full unrestricted access to my computer, or even full unrestricted access to Thunderbird for that matter? Does the Thunderbird team do any vetting… (pročitajte više)

Why would an addon need full unrestricted access to my computer, or even full unrestricted access to Thunderbird for that matter?

Does the Thunderbird team do any vetting of addons? Maybe they had that kind of access before, but in 78 a popup displays saying what kind of access will be used when installing it from an .xpi file.

This came up when installing the Send Later addon for 78.

Hello All, my inbox messages have disappeared! I have been using Thunderbird for years and my current version is 78.5.0, set up as a pop mail account on Windows. Messages stored inside the Sent, Drafts, and Trash are still visible and accessible from the Thunderbird main window and the Inbox folder still correctly indicates a number of messages stored, but no messages appear where I would usually see them. If I try to download new messages, Thunderbird responds with a message saying that there are "no new messages" though I can see new messages in my inbox when I bypass Thunderbird and log into my email account using a browser. Please help!

I get an error message about the outgoing mail server timing out when I try to send an email (see image). My email client says all my setting are correct, my isp says it's a problem with Thunderbird. We recently moved and had to use a new isp (Xplorenet). They suggest Thunderbird matches my email address with my ip address and if they don't match Thunderbird's records I get the default error message about the outgoing mail server timing out. How do I fix this problem so I can send emails.

As well as Thunderbird, I'm still using an open source email program called Virtual Access as my primary email software solely because of the re-threading abilities. My company is ONLY using Virtual Access. The problem with VA is that it stopped being developed probably 15 years years ago and its HTML support is rudimentary. VA dates back some 25+ years and may have be the inspiration for Thunderbird. In VA, it threads by Subject. You can take a message in a thread and make it the Root message for following messages or you can move a message to another thread provided it is earlier than the one you are re-threading. You can also copy or move to and re-thread the email to another folder. I've uploaded a screenshot from VA and in the upper right pane, hopefully you can see what I mean by this flexible way of threading. (I shrank the message pane to show more of the threading) I'd be willing to donate to Mozilla several thousand pounds for the sort of flexibility in Threads VA gives you.

I have W10 latest version + latest version of Thunderbird 78.5.0 (64-bits). I did not install any add-on. Just installed direct from download.

E-mail accounts work fine.

I have several agenda's configured (public read only and my google calendar). They display ok after enabling them. However, after a (re-_start of Thunderbird, the agenda screen items are not displayed. Empty agenda!. Pressing the [Synchronize] button does nothing.

The only way to get the agenda's items back on screen is to press the 'eye' symbol next to each agenda twice (so disable and re-enable). After that agenda's appear. If I stop Thunderbird and restart, agenda is empty again.

Is there some setting that is wrong? Is this a bug?

Hello. I am using Thunderbird Portable Edition 78.5.0 on PortableApps platform 17.1.1. I have many (over 70) folders, most of which are populated by filters which are enabled to run automatically. In the past, folders which had new messages were shown by a change of colour together with an asterisk. More recently, this is just shown by the colour of the folder name changing from black to blue; this is not always easy to spot, especially since my eyes are not what they were. However, a more worrying problem has arisen in recent weeks. The indication of a new message disappears before I open the folder; the folder name changes back to black, implying that there are no new messages in that folder. This seems to be random, or at least I have not been able to discern any pattern. In addition, sometimes newly-arrived messages are no longer indicated by an asterisk; this also appears to be random, and seems to be in folders that do indicate a new message as well as those that don't. Now, I am having to go through every folder to check there are no new messages, which is obviously inconvenient at the least. I had hoped that all the recent updates might have solved the issue, but they haven't. I would be grateful for any help in overcoming this problem. Cheers.

I have been using Thunderbird successfully for a long time and have quite a substantial amount of stored info in the 'profile'.

My old Win 10 PC died so I was unable to migrate my Thunderbird service to my new Win 10 PC via the method shown in Help topics on this site. But, I did always back up what I thought was my 'profile folder'. The one that has the title format xxxxxxxxx.default. Reading the instructions in the Help article, I realise that I really needed to back up the entire 'Thunderbird' folder if I was to use it later for migration.

I am where I am, so is there any way I can recover any data from my old xxxxxxxx.default folder such as Emails/Contacts/Local Folders etc?

I'm running a local nextcloud with CalDAV via https and a self signed certificate. The certificate is added as an exemption to Thunderbird.

It all worked fine (synching to Thunderbird on Win 10) and all my iOS clients in the past. Yesterday I've updated Thunderbird from 78.4.3 to 78.5.0. Now Calendar tells it can't write - and apparently it's not updating (reading) either. All other CalDAV clients have no problem, so the issue must be related to yesterdays Thunderbird update.

I'm happy to look up logfiles or such to support bug finding. Unfortunately this bug is severe to me as I use Thunderbird for my business and not being up to date with the calendar is a major bummer.

We have several computers here using Thunderbird. We have just added a new one and installed Thunderbird on it too. Everything is synced on thunderbird on the new computer except the colored tags. These tags are customized and added onto the new computer just as every other computer. However these tags dont show up on the new computer. What can we do to solve this?

Thunderbird often deletes ALL graphics from my mails, especially when it has been running for a while. Note: NOT just remote ones. View original html is correct, remote images are allowed; permissions graphics is 1. Are there any other ideas? This problem has been around since I migrated to a new PC. I am considering deleting and reinstalling Thunderbird (there have been several updates) but I am worried that I will lose all my mail. Thank you for your help. Barry

First post,so forgive any incorrectitudes!

Imported a large collection of messages from Windows Live Mail 11 into Thunderbird, where I had already set up newsgroups. Created a new folder "D" into Local Folders and imported there, but two issues:

- folder "D" shows (right-click, properties) like a newsgroup - it has General information and Retention Policy tabs. Maybe this is OK?

- when replying to a message it appears to be using the wrong account. In the From line it shows:

 David J Taylor <my-email> forums.embarcadero.com (in italics)

and a Newsgroup line (blank).

whereas it I create a new e-mail using Write, the From shows:

 David J Taylor <my-email>  my-email (in italics)

and no Newsgroup line. I don't understand whether this is to do with the e-mail properties (the one I'm replying to) or whether it's a property of the folder tree I created. I have searched for a solution but not found one. Is there a way to fix this, please?
