I'm working with Thunderbird 152.0 on linux (Manjaro GNOME). I've been having this issue where sometimes while composing a reply, the quoted text of the email I'm replying to in the body of my current reply will be displayed as black on the dark background. It's very annoying when I need to look at specific text to refer to in my message.

Some more observations: - This is not a new issue, it's been happening for quite a while now, possibly years, but it's finally gotten to a point where I want to fix it. - It does not always happen. I suspect it's when the original message I'm replying to has been formatted in html first, whereas I prefer plain text replies.

I've attached an image of what it can look like on my end, as well as one where I select the text to show the contents.

Is there anything that can be done about it?

Thunderbird Calendar cannot select custom sound for reminder. The browse button to select custom sound does not work.

The provided solution which worked for the user (on TB 102):

Settings/General, Config. editor, paste mail.biff.play_sound.url in the search, then click the Reset icon for that preference, then see if the Browse button works.

This no longer works on TB 152.01, so cant use longer duration custom sound. The default sound is a micro-second blip that is easy to miss.

I am using Kubuntu 26.04 and I am using the monthly stable channel version of the Thunderbird Snap. In KDE system settings, the default email client is set to Thunderbird. Upon every startup of Thunderbird, it ask if I want to set it as the default client for email, newsgroups, feeds and calendar and when I click yes and close Thunderbird and reopen it it does the same thing, over and over. Otherwise the email program operates just fine otherwise. My email accounts are all setup properly and functioning and working and it downloads email just fine. It just has that annoying popup upon every startup. I've included two images to show what I mean. I like the Snap version and prefer that container format. I would like someone who is smarter than me to file a bug on my behalf.

I've just bought a new 24" iMac desktop and it's running Tahoe 26.5.1. I'm using Thunderbird 152.0.1

Everything migrated fine from the old machine, but on the old machine a great many of my subfolders under Local Folders were disordered. Now, I've used 'reset folder order' to fix them, but within those subfolders, the next level of subfolders are disordered. Manually dragging and dropping makes it worse (didn't know it could get worse, but it has...) and when I took advice and looked for the 'Manually order folders' add-on, it says it's not compatible with my version so now I'm stuck. I have ongoing conversations with several hundred clients and cannot work if I cannot file and search email alphabetically, it's a disaster. I'd send a screenshot but the client names are confidential. Can anyone please help??? The top line of subfolders under Local Folders are fine, it's the folders within those subfolders that aren't. A return/Enter command causes two line spacing. I have unchecked Use Paragraph Format in Global preferences. Shift Enter also causes a two line space/paragraph spacing.

Thunderbird is marking unread messages as read after about 5 minutes. I've tried changing settings by delaying or unticking automatically mark messages as read in the "reading & display area" and it's still marking messages after about 5 minutes to read when they haven't been opened. We are not using Bitdefender - I saw this was referred to in the help section and changes could be made to that to stop this happening but we are only using Microsoft defender. We are not using another device, ie phone or ipad to access emails on this account - just a PC We do have other email accounts running on different PC and none of those appear affected by this problem.

My Message Source displays text in very large Liberation Mono. I can't find a setting anywhere, including Advanced Preferences. Where can I change that?

Liberation Mono is the font I have set for monospace in different languages. Since it is not the default, there may be a connection there.

Also, since yesterday when I reply to certain HTML messages, the font used for quoted text is again large size Liberation Mono. I haven't changed anything, so I suspect it's a bug in new 152.0.1.

I want to collapse all folders in my email account.

I have a lot of them, and I don't want to close/expand them all individually. I want to quickly close all or expand all

Is there a button to do that ?

I have TB version 140.11.0esr (64-bit) running on Win 10. I have multiple accounts and each is set to check for new messages every 10 minutes (nothing else is ticked under "Server Settings). Everything is ticked under "When new message arrives" (and default sound is used).

When new messages were available to download, TB used to play alert sound (and I would know to download new messages) but now TB is sounding (the new messages) alert every time it checks for new messages even if there are NO new messages to download! How do I revert to the alert ONLY being sounded when there ARE new messages to download?

I'm having an issue that's not major, but irritating. and getting time-consuming.

'Recently left Windows 11 behind (good riddance!) and have gone back to Linux Mint, which is working out well for me. But there's a strange and persistent glitch" when pasting into T-bird from Autokey, which I use daily,

I get typos, dropped spaces, etc, whenever pasting into T-bird BUT INTO NO OTHER PROGRAMS. My workaround has been to paste first into a text editor (which receives the pasted text perfectly formatted), THEN into T-bird from there.

Again, it's not a major, life-threatening issue, but at the end of the day it's a real time-consumer.

I've posted this question on other forums, but no one can give me an answer. Is there a text setting or something n T-bird that I'm missing? A different form of ASCII, etc? Thanks for any suggestions you can think of.

Btw, I've used and loved T-bird for many years, and love it. Best email client I've ever used, and I've been online since the mid-90's (yeah, I'm an antique! ha ha). I try to send a donation once / year. Keep up the good work!

When an email that is part of a thread is selected the delete button changes places with archive so I end up with a bunch of archives I don't want because I get a lot of mail and delete is my favorite key to spam.

Is there a way of changing this placement behavior or do I need to hack the source and if I do need to go hacking can someone point me in the direction of the file with this evil thing.

I use Thunderbird on dark mode, so by default, unformatted text (where I haven't explicitly set text color) appears as white text on a black background in my compose window. The same unformatted text, when sent to someone viewing it in light mode, appears as black on white to them and remains readable. When I use white text in my compose window, it looks identical to me, but remains white when sent and is thus unreadable white-on-white to those using light mode. Is there something in the composition window that indicates whether I'm typing with formatted or unformatted text? (No, the color selector tool does not do this. When typing unformatted text, it displays the last selected colors, regardless of whether they are being used.)

If there's no way to distinguish this, could someone please add a UI element for it?

I am experiencing an issue where clicking links inside Thunderbird emails forces Microsoft Edge to launch a completely brand new window with a blank profile (no extensions, default settings). It does not open as a new tab in my active window.

My environment details:

• OS: Windows 11 (Version 25H2) • Default Browser: Microsoft Edge (Only one profile exists under edge://settings/profiles, no Workspaces used). • Thunderbird version: Latest stable release.

When Thunderbird passes the HTTP/HTTPS link to Windows, Edge seems to ignore the standard "Default" user data directory profile and launches a temporary or guest-like profile container instead.

Is this a known bug in how Thunderbird handles external URI handlers, or is it an Edge registry/default app assignment issue? Any help or workaround config settings would be appreciated. Thank you!

When I delete a message from the message list (not the first one), the next email selected is the first one in the list. This is a change in behavior - it used to the the one following the position of the deleted the email would be selected.

Thunderbird er begyndt at åbne enhver e-mail jeg klikker på som et pop op vindue. Dette er usædvanligt for mig, og jeg ønsker det ikke. Der findes jo allerede en velegnet rude til visning af en e-mail inde i programmet(thunderbird).
