For a few days all my Inbox messages have been duplicated, and not just recent ones - going back years. In fact some of the older ones are triplicate and quadruple! Now I've stopped getting Inbox messages, because it appears to be so busy "Downloading message 49351 of 105883 in Inbox" - so I guess I'm being inundated by so many duplicates that the system can't put up the new ones! Please HELP!'

I have latest version 102.8.0 of Thunderbird and recently (past few weeks) mail has failed to send from my hotmail account, the SMTP server settings are all OK and as per laid out on both the Outlook site and the Thunderbird website.

The problem I am experiencing is that if a compose or reply to an email and click on send, thunderbird freezes. I click on cancel and then try to send again which seems to work 99% of the time. Mail sent from two other mail.accounts seems work within Thunderbird. I have looked in tools/developer/errors and see the following but I doubt if relevant.

Hello, I use TB from my gmail account. My problem is: I get a notification of a message in the Inbox file on the left of the screen [i.e. INBOX (1)] but the message does not load to the inbox window on the left. I have to go to my gmail to find the message. This does not happen with all my mail, just one or two senders. Any ideas????

I've setup hundreds of mails on Thunderbird for my clients, but this is something I never encounterd.

After setting up I don't get the Finish button - it's grayed out. The image is from my client. Thunderbird installed yesterday, so latest version.

I tried the setup on my PC and worked right away.

Now, because there is no error code or something, I don't have a clue how to troubleshoot it.

Please help. Thank you.

Or really, what I'd like even better is a keyboard shortcut. So: (1) Does this exist? (I know the menu item doesn't exist, but it's possible that a shortcut exists.) (2) If no,

  (a) Any plans to add it?
  (b) Is it possible to request it?
  (c) Is there an extension that provides it? (I didn't find one at addons.thunderbird.net.)

For the last twp months, I have been receiving email with the time showing three or hours earlier. I called Spectrum and they said they are receiving emails at the correct EST, but when it transmits to Thunderbird, it shows up three or four hours earlier in the time. How can I correct this? I often want to move a mail from my inbox to one of the Local Folders I've created. I find that the Right Click > Move To > Recent list is very helpful.

BUT... sometimes I need a brand new folder e.g. I have a list of companies that I correspond with, and might need a new folder for that company. When I create that new folder, it'd be great if that could get pushed into the 'Recent' list or even to the 'Move to [folder name] Again option for quickness.

NB I tried to find an option for creating feature requests, but could not. Would happily repost this if pointed in the right direction; or if some savvy person would like to do so, I'm equally happy with that :-)

As per the description, when replying to an email TB spellchecks the original email being replied to including header. It finds lots of issues re abbreviations/slang/acronyms used in the original that I don't want changed and, on a broader level, don't want to change anything in the original text. Nothing original about this so I am sure that I am missing a setting somewhere & any help would be very much appreciated.

First of all sorry for my english as I am French Since yesterday Thunderbird do not synchronize with Gmail : I don't receive mails from Gmail I've got the latest version of TB and the authentification is OAuth2 I notice that IMAP/SMTP server is : imap.googlemail.com and smtp.googlemail.com and not imap.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com Maybe this explains why TB fails with synchronization with Gmail Thank you for your assistance

My wife and I have been using Thunderbird for many years through various incarnations of Windows. We upgraded recently to Windows 11 and are running v.102 of Thunderbird. When my wife tried to open her inbox this morning there was a continual buffer eventually disclosing an empty panel except for a column of stars all down the left side. Buffer is still running afte some hours. I checked the properties of her inbox. Folder location line is blank. Number of messages unknown. I can identify the folder as it is identical to mine except for one digit but I am unable to paste or type this location into the blank line. So, I can't repair the folder. Her sent folder is fine and all my folders working perfectly. Any idea how I can get Thunderbird to recognise her inbox, please?

This week, for some reason, Thunderbird decided that emails from a specific email address are trash. I've been getting these emails for years with no problem. When I mark it as not junk, it goes to the inbox temporarily and then back to trash.

I set up a message filter to move them to inbox, but the same thing happened. So, I set up a message filter to move the messages to inbox after being marked as junk. No luck.

As a non-techie, it looks like somewhere inside Thunderbird I have to manually change the designation for that email address. How do I do that? If I'm wrong, very possible, what do I do?

I am using a 2017 MacBook Air using version 12.6.3.

My wife and I are both using Thunderbird 102.9 on Windows 10, with the emails stored in "maildir" format. (One file per message.) Last night when I was backing up the Thunderbird profile folder on her laptop to another drive, I noticed that a huge number of files had been modified, and they mostly had the same modification date and time (give or take a few minutes.) (I use FreeFileSync to copy the changed files to the other drive, but that's probably not significant.) After a day's usage, I would expect a couple of hundred megabytes of data to need copying, but in this case, it was well over a gigabyte. The files that were being updated ranged from a few days older to a year or two older than the files which were being copied over them. Running her Thunderbird installation today, all seems normal; the email "received" and "date" times seem normal, and it looks like the emails themselves aren't corrupted. I'm wondering if there's any function within Thunderbird which would cause these file dates to be modified en masse in this way? (Or perhaps it's a Windows 10 thing... but as far as I know, no file date modification utilities were in use, nor is there any malware on our systems. (I think Malwarebytes Pro would be throwing up warnings all over the place if this was the case, and we scan daily.) Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Kind regards, Roger V.

The subfolders still show in the table of Folders, but not the emails. Perhaps there is a limit to the length of subfolder names? Perhaps some characters are forbidden ?

I closed the program and made a copy of the whole array of folders in the Thunderbird program - to avoid damaging the actual program or data - and searching(the copy) with Windows File Manager I found there are files in some of the three 'empty' folders, but was unable to open them properly.

Any ideas please ?

Draft messages went blank, then disappeared after folder repair

My father has been using Thunderbird for a POP account for years. He stores about a dozen messages in the drafts folder that he uses as templates to reuse on occasion. Recently, some of these drafts started showing the body of the messages as blank, when they used to contain text and some embedded images. Double clicking to open them also displayed a blank message. There are still some older and some newer draft messages that still appear intact as they always have, just a group of messages in the middle are blank.

I discovered the repair feature on the drafts folder and ran it. Whatever it did was instant, and now those "blank" draft messages have disappeared entirely from the folder. The only messages remaining are the ones that still contained text and images.

I did some digging for anyone experiencing similar issues, but came up empty. He does not have any system backups. Does anyone have an idea what happened and if these messages can be recovered?

On February 28, 2023 I sent an email. If I want to keep a copy of the email I usually send it to me via a BCC. I can't remember if I did this with this email. But if I did not I went to the SENT folder and moved the email to my saved folder. I wanted to open this email to make sure of what I had sent in the last email to this person. When I opened it all I saw was code, screenshot attached. In looking at this email with notepad I discovered that the dates are from April 2018. I assume all is lost. Is there anyway to resolve this? Each week I save the profile. I have another PC that does not have email installed. I installed Thunderbird, recovered my saved profile with the date of 03/01/23, and imported it to Thunderbird. I found the email in question in my INBOX and it was corrupt. It appears that it is showing information from a April 2018 email. That email is in the INBOX and it displays correctly. Is there anything that can be done to recover the February 28, 2023 email? What I don't understand is that the Subject, Correspondence, and Date are correct in Thunderbird. The good news is that I know my backup works.
