I want to setup my Gmail account that my school hosts. It has a unique domain name and Thunderbird does not recognize it as a Gmail account, but I'm sure it is. Here's what I did to solve the problem (yet no luck) First, I tried to setup with manual IMAP configuraiton by following the steps on LifeWire Article and Google Support, but it says that credentials that I'm using is wrong. It did detect the Gmail mail server though. Next, I tried to pretend that I'm going to login as a user I've created ON GOOGLE so thunderbird can recognize it as Gmail Account, then logged in with my school credential, and it failed. Probably because I've entered fake Gmail address in the form. It's very inconvenient that I cannot setup mail accounts with OAuth authentication method manually.

Do you have a walkaround for this?

I created a backup of my Thunderbird profile including various email accounts and calendar. I used the build in export function of Thunderbird to create this backup. Unfortunately the file is slightly bigger than 2GB.

I had a severe copmputer crash now and I wanted to import the backup. It turns out that the zip-achive is damaged. I cannot unpack it with any zip-software and also repairing the archive with winrar did not work.

Is there any chance that I can at least restore some of the information?

Hello, For some reason, over the past couple of months I have been searching for varied emails and they are missing! At one point, I found that some had been put in an archive folder (that I did NOT set up) and they were recent emails. I removed them from the folder, placed them back in the regular inbox and deleted that folder. When I could not find another very important series of emails today, after searching numerous ways, I looked in the server and missing emails are there. I did look at a number of email threads where other people reported similar problems... but couldn't figure out what applied to my situation and how to fix this. To show a specific example, I attached two images ... the first is my Thunderbird email account that shows one Email only on Feb 18, 2024. The Juno server image shows 7 emails on that same date, four which were important contracts that were sent to me. Can you please help me locate and retrieve these and other missing emails? I'm using Thunderbird for my private and company e-mails (different companies). I need to pay close attention to selecting the right names as the auto suggest for recipients isn't using the context of the current account. Is there a plugin or setting I've missed that considers the context of composing a mail and priorities collected e-mails from the respective account or recent conversations for example? Good example is the Gmail auto complete, that has a good suggestion ranking.

Best I could find was options to sync with Google Mail contacts, but that would require to maintain a list of contacts in Google Mail, which I don't do.

Since applying update 115.10.0, Thunderbird will not close correctly and will not relaunch until task is ended in task Manager. This is true on a windows 7 PC and windows 10.

I have been struggling with this problem for about 6 months now and no-one I've asked has been able to help me. Even my computer guru failed me! I think it was after an update about last June when I started having this problem An nothing I've tried has had any effect. I had a Geek Squad guy on the phone with me for about 45 minutes to no effect. He said he'd never seen the problem before. I have business emails on that account so I don't want to risk losing them. As a longtime user and a regular subscriber to Mozilla, I can’t get access to Thunderbird. Reason is that I had to repair the hard drive and now I am locked out. I am unable to insert a master password because I never had one. Reason being that I have used Thunderbird for years and years before that was required. To say I am frustrated is an understatement. None of your automated advice has a remedy. Should I install a new version of Thunderbird and begin afresh? John Cotterell ( an Australian supporter of your project)

I can receive emails to my (protonmail.com server) email account on Thunderbird. But I cannot send emails. This is the error message. "Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Error: no such user. Please check the message and try again."

Already invested time creating some html code for email signature on thunderbird. Wanted to create something prepared for dark modes on IOS. Everything was fine until I detected on IOS (dark mode)some white rectangles outside my email signature code. It´s a problem that I cannot solve because it´s outside my code, and I´m wondering if you are already aware of this issue.

This is something I've never encountered, since I hardly ever go to the Sent folder except to look at something I sent. But this was a different task.

I've had a series of emails from a friend, that my wife wanted me to forward to her so she could see them. So I went to the Sent folder, and forwarded 3 of those emails to my wife. Then she told me she only got one so I went back to Sent and thought they would be at the top of the list, 1-2-3, but that was not what I found. Since those emails were each part of several different threads in the back and forth with my friend, it took me a long time to figure out which email to pick off and resend. I made sure I was sorting them by date, descending, but was bewildered that the listing had the ones I wanted embedded (see screenshot, with the ones I just sent highlighted in red)

So my question is, is there a setting where I could tell Tbird to sort strictly by send date?

For a few weeks I have had a new problem on my new Windows 11 Lenovo laptop, and also on my wife's older Dell laptop. We have been using Thunderbird for years without major problems. I loaded the latest version of Thunderbird on my new laptop and it seemed to work ok at first. Now I have a problem with intermittent failure to send normal emails on Thunderbird. My wife has noticed the same problem on her laptop Windows 11. I asked iPrimus support (who are supposed to support Hotkey) but they say it is not their problem but Thunderbird's. We RECEIVE emails ok, and sometimes pressing SEND will work immediately, sometimes on the second press, and sometimes not at all. This generates a message "-- Unable to authenticate Outgoing Server (SMTP), smtp.hotkey.net.au -- Check password and verify authentification method in Account settings/Outgoing server SMTP" We both use Trend virus protection.

Suddenly unable to send any emails. Able to receive / read. In Charter / Spectrum able to send. Port numbers are correct (143) for Incoming & (25) for Outgoing SMTP. Did try to change Outgoing Port to 587 per one of your posts. Didn't work. This is error message I get.

Hi, I am not sure how it happened, I am now in a position where I can't use my Thunderbird properly. Every time I open TB, it asks for "please enter your Primary Password" which I don't have/deleted? If a try to remove the tick from "Use a Primary Password" it opens a box requesting my Current Password, I have tried the last one and the one before, none are accepted. When I search in Saved logins, it seems to me to be empty. in short I seem to need a current password to change my password. It is a vicious loop. Thunderbird continues to lose my password for incoming and outgoing mail. Occasionally it works, but I keep getting messages that my password doesn't work / enter new password. When I go to passwords, it does not show the incoming or outgoing servers so I can make sure my password is there. I use Xfinity for my email. It was suggested earlier that it is an Xfinity problem. My Thunderbird email is essentially unuseable. I need it to work!
