I've been recently developing/playing around with JavaScript. Two days ago I discovered a leak (my first!) in my script. I ran it for about a minute before shutting it off and creating a heap. The heap was only ~23 MB, however, Gecko runs at a snails pace after opening it (by "snail's pace" I mean >20 second click lag) I thought my script might be the cause, but it still lags when opening the heap file in an empty tab. My system monitor is showing only moderate amounts of RAM used, however one core is always at 100% when processing a click. The "unresponsive script" dialog has popped up (script is chrome://browser/content/browser.xul:1) Totally new to advanced JS debugging, so I don't have the slightest idea what is going on. I'm using the built-in Gecko, and Firefox 42 (yes I know that is ancient)

As the screenshot shows. I installed ver. 59 but the system recognize I am still at ver .42 this unable to install new addons

what's the problem and I can solve it?

On Flexmls, I've lost some the ability to see some items; I get a pop-up saying to update the browser, which I've done. It then tells me to unblock the cookies, which are already unblocked. I just don't know if I can use this browser, but I want to.

I have a heavily customised FF v42 setup I am happy with but my Firefox version is seriously out of date and it's time to upgrade. I suspect a lot of things will no longer work on the latest version (particularly some of my old addons).

To ease the transition I want to be able to run my old version (temporarily for say a few weeks) and the latest one simultaneously so I can customise the new one the same standard and find solutions for anything that is no longer supported and still use my old install/addons until that transition is completed.

but the solution pointed to has links that no longer work. I couldn't find anything recent on the web or youtube that covers the Mac.

I understand the principles will be to:

1. Install current version in a different location. Is that just dragging the FF .app file to somewhere other than the Applications folder or is it asked as part of the install?

2. Use a different profile for each install. Not sure the sequence of doing this so that I don't lose my current (old) profile. I'm guessing it's create a new profile, switch to the new profile and then install current version which will "take over" the new profile. Then I can switch back to the old one when I run my my old FF?

When I visit some websites (example attached), there is a flickering speaker icon in the tab. What does it mean? How can I disable the feature?

I am using FireFox 42.0. (Yes, I know it is outdated.)

Upon starting, a dialogue box appears that says, “Firefox closed unexpectedly while starting. . . .”, with the buttons “Start in Safe Mode” and “Refresh Firefox”. This box is almost immediately replaced by the Mozilla Crash Reporter. The same thing happens when attempting to start in Safe Mode. To my knowledge, I did not make any changes before this issue began occurring. I have uninstalled Firefox, rebooted my computer, deleted the Firefox installation folder, and reinstalled Firefox, to no effect. I cannot manually refresh Firefox because I cannot create a new user profile; attempting to do so results in the Crash Reporter appearing when I click “Finish”. Anny assistance you can offer would be appreciated.

Hello all.I was install a fresh copy of windows today and I was wanted to sync my bookmarks and passwords through firefox like before.But today this option simply doesn't work.I was forgot my password and I reset it and still I can't sync anything.Can you please help me,I'm really out of options.Thanks in advance.

Every day now I find that the Exceptions options in Security, Privacy and Content are filled with a list of blocked sites along with the exception of Security which adds the two approved FF / Mozilla sites for allowing addons. No offence but I don't want FF to decide what I should block and what I should allow so my question is how do I clear the sites and stop it filling up again. Thanks in advance - endee

In moments, Firefox's "Refresh" made a mess of my customized selections of add-ons, plugins, toolbars, etc., and now crashes, 2-of my favorite "go-to" add-ons are (1) 1 gone, and (2) the other will not install. I will NEVER do what Firefox suggests again. I was doing just fine...Except, for several months Firefox suddenly freezes and I have to go to the Task Manager to end Firefox, then open Firefox anew. All I can say is, I must be losing my marbles for "refreshing" Firefox for the second time in a couple of years, after the first time caused trouble, and the overall results are worse now, the second time. I am also weary of Firefox crashes.

Anyway, is the "refresh" which occurred within the past hour, reversible? Also, just noticed "Old Firefox Data" folder whereas Had never seen it before . . . is this connected to Firefox refreshing?

This evidently happened a couple of days ago . My firefox, which is always up to date, suddenly stopped displaying many websites. The problem was the appearance of a fully BLANK page. After quite a bit of investigation, including a couple of uninstall/reinstall cycles, I realized that all the pages causing problems were trying to perform a redirection using a meta refresh tag. The info on the support site (here) said this was related to the browser configuration, but I had the configuration tag appropriately set false (the default value, which *allows* redirection). I actually tried setting it to true, and, curiously, when I did that I then got the browser message saying the redirection was blocked, and when I clicked on "allow" it went thru! To make a pretty long story a bit shorter, the problem turned out to be the OFFICIAL AMAZON FIREFOX EXTENSION--which was updated on Dec 10. When I removed that extension and restarted my firefox, everything started working properly again. I have notified Amazon of the problem, but I figured that it would be important to post this notice here, as well, since I presume other users are probably having the same problem.

If you are seeing this issue (and your "blockautorefresh" config parameter is properly set to false), click on the tools menu (upper right, horizontal bars), and choose "add-ons." On that screen, open the Extensions tab. If it shows the "official Amazon firefox extension" you need to remove that. It did not tell me to restart the browser at that point, but I did, just to be sure. That fixed the problem.

For the record, I'm running Windows 7, 64-bit OS, with service pack 1. And my firefox is up to date with version 42.0.

I have a website that contains an embedded PDF. I want to be able to remove the toolbar and scroll bars that display when using the Firefox PDF Reader.

It is my understanding that I could switch to the Adobe Reader, as they seem to have options that can be set that can achieve what I need, but I am on Linux and there is no longer support for Linux environments.

Is there a way to remove the toolbar and scroll bars when viewing a PDF?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I recently moved to another city, and after having my sons set up my computer, I have noticed that the Google Adsense ads that I have placed on my web site are not showing up in Firefox, yet they do show in other browsers. I've updated Java, cleared history and cache, etc., and Restarted my computer. And don't have any ad blockers going. Other people I know are able to see the ads; as well as Google staff, who say it is a problem with my computer. Any ideas what I can do? Thanks,
