On ubuntu oracular 24.10, when firefox is launched, it tries to open a UDP listening port on all network interfaces which is not acceptable on many levels:

/usr/bin/netstat -tunpevaW|grep firefox udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:48654 0.0.0.0:* 1000 881247 178766/firefox

Is this behavior specific to Ubuntu or is it implemented by design? This must be a no go by design: if it needs a UDP port for some reason, it has to open it on the **loopback interface (127.0.0.1)** only.

I can't find a place to control third party cookies in the Security section. I used to be able to donate on my church's website but now it doesn't work. I tried doing it with Microsoft Edge and it worked fine. I hate to erase all my history and cookies because it takes away log-in info on my regular websites. Any ideas? Thanks for your help Terri

Your instructions under "help" say to click on "Firefox" and click on "preferences". When I click on Firefox the menu does NOT have "Preferences" in it. What's up with that?? And how do I clear the cache and cookies?

I have been using firefox for years. I have made no changes to settings. I got a blue screen yesterday and after that firefox keeps logging me off of everything I close it. I have tried about:preferences#privacy then going to History and clear history when firefox closes and only selecting cache. Does not work. I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox twice but i think it does not delete everyhing. I still have access to history after the reinstall.

With increasing frustration, I'm am trying top retain certain cookies when deleting other cookies and history. Instructions I read say use "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox closes" with exceptions noted, and do not toggle "clear history when Firefox closes." Except that in my Firefox settings, they work in tandem - the choices are both on or both off. I can't turn one on and the other off. Under manage exceptions, I am entering the entire website address with the https. Any suggestions? Thanks. Joe Markarian

Its every time I turn off my computer or sometimes when i close the browser and opened it again. it logs me out of my emails...I don't know how to fix this. And It's annoying to put your email's every time you open the browser...

The bank for our online HOA accounts wants me to allow "third party cookies". How do I allow that on my MacBook Pro?

Also, the videos that are implanted in news articles on msn.com won't load and play. How do I allow them to load so I can view them?

La demande se répète tous les jours même si je visite n'importe quel site plusieurs fois dans la journée. Pouvez vous remédiez à cela. We are having a problem with Kaiser Permanente’s website. The problem occurs randomly and when it occurs we cannot sign in to our account on the website. We get a “redirect error”.

We can fix the problem but comes back again after a while. To fix it we go to Settings / Privacy and Security / Cookies and Site Data / Manage Data. Under manage data we enter Kaiser in the search box and then delete the website.

Is there a way (a settings change) to fix this problem in Firefox or is it a Kaiser website problem?

BTW.. the same problem also occurs on Chrome, just not as frequently.

Our backend sets a cookie for maintaining login sessions with SameSite=None and Secure (to support loading our front-end from localhost for developers and from a third party domain for PR previews).

This is the respose header:

set-cookie: ESESSIONID=<redacted>; Secure; HttpOnly; Path=/; SameSite=None; Max-Age=86399

However, Firefox does not send the cookie back with requests, but logs this error in the console:

Cookie “ESESSIONID” has been rejected because it is in a cross-site context and its “SameSite” is “Lax” or “Strict”.

We have worked around the issue by configuring exceptions in the Security & Privacy settings, but I am curious to why Firefox rejects the cookie with this error message.

When I regularly clean out cookies, there is one that keeps showing up in spite of my trying to remove it. Info in that dialogue box says it has been with me for more than a week. Of course, I keep all regular Mozilla cookies, but this one is strange. It is 'about.ef2a7dd5-93bc-417f-a698-14c3116864f.' Can you tell me what this is?

Thru Firefox, I use Tineye to find related photos - I use it all the time, it's been great - I always use a VPN and have never had problems until now (as of yesterday). Now it won't search, a verify you're human window comes up, and I have to keep clicking squares, which I do - but then it says to allow cookies and start over. Well I don't want to allow cookies (I assume it's one of the options I have thru Firefox to block cookies), and I can't find where to allow cookies even if I did (I went to Firefox preferences etc) and I don't want to disable my VPN. Maybe I should mention that I just added or started a Mozilla account, as I have had immense trouble with my aol emails, and am trying to move everything over to a gmail account. My sign in to Firefox was the aol email, and I had to (try, I thought I did it) add another account, which I think I did successfully. So it was right after that, that all this started. Help please! Hi! I do not want more cookies than "necessary". So I reject, make settings etc. And I clean them automatically when closing Firefox, just in case. On some sites that I visit very often, this turns out very tedious and timeconsuming. How to allow only necessary cookies and not the rest? With Privacy & Security, Cookies and Site Data, Manage Exceptions, I can allow or block cookies from specific sites. What do I allow when I choose Allow? Only the ticked ones or all marketing and other stuff even when these are not preticked as default? Or will the choices made during this session be saved? In the case of my bank and a couple of others, I would like to save my choices to be able to enter it a little faster. But cleaning at closing Firefox also deletes that, I suppose? How to save my choices without saving all cookies?

Is there any way to see what kind of cookies have been saved? I can see the number of cookies for each site under Manage Data, but how to see the type of cookie?

Why do Cross Site tracking cookies show up after I shut down the browser and restart? I have my history set up to delete everything when I close the browser so I'm curious why cross site cookies are apparently allowed to exist/function, even after a restart?
