I'm trying to backup my bookmark favorites to a USB device I tried your steps and it is not updating the bookmarks to my USB device only showing the last backup I changed the file name and it is not saving the latest updated bookmarks please help Thank you

Automatic upgrade to OS Sonoma on MacBook Pro. Firefox bookmarks are not visible -- seem to have disappeared. Firefox seems to think I'm a new user. Is there a way to retrieve my bookmarks?

It is not unusual for me to have trouble following articles. I looked at restore, said would be a list of dated automatic backups, I do not see anything. I tried switching profiles, only have 2, i see no difference. please help. I'm on a Surface Pro, windows 11

I'm looking for some specific explanation of how Firefox browser bookmarks sync handles a situation where a new device with no or different bookmarks is added to an older, original device with its own synced set of bookmarks.

Do the newer bookmarks on the newer device merge with those on the original older device, or do the newer ones REPLACE the older ones on the original device? In my experience, the newer ones sometimes at least seem to replace the older ones, which is not the behavior I'd want.

And, is there any way to adjust just how the syncing occurs in terms of merging vs. replacing?

When I got a new computer, I couldn't remember my Firefox password. After resetting new password I lost all saved bookmarks and other information. How can I recover those thing on my new computer? The old computer has been formatted unfortunately.

why cant i have all my bookmarks in 1 folder that i make and i name and delete all the rest of the default bookmark folders especially favorites folder who needs this if you bookmark something you like it and you dont need a stupid folder saying favorites atleast i dont, i only need 1 damm folder not 5 damm folders  ! ... its much eazier then having to see all the other crap folders only 1 folder bookmarks, i have firefox on my cell i dont need a damm moblie bookmarks folder, our firefox account is the same account on desktop at home and on cell phone so why do i need a moblie bookmarks folder in only need 1 bookmarks folder so can this be address ? .

I had to reinstall Firefox and restore my bookmarks from an HTML file. After the restore, I found I could only copy a few of my Bookmarks Toolbar and Other Bookmark links to the corresponding files in the new installation. I was only able to move the Toolbar bookmarks to the proper file because the old Toolbar file appeared on my toolbar, and I could move the bookmarks one by one to the toolbar until all were entered.

I'm faced with a similar problem with the Other Bookmarks (OB) file. I only have five or six bookmarks in the file, and I need to add about a dozen more. I tried copying and pasting them into the new file in the Bookmarks Manager; the bookmarks copied but would not paste into the file. (I know they copied because I successfully pasted them to a LibreOffice document.) I tried opening one of the copied links; it said it was in the OB file, but it wasn't listed. Why can't I just bulk-copy the bookmarks into the file in the Bookmarks Manager? If that isn't possible

I've built up an extensive library of very important bookmarks in firefox. Last week, I needed to clean my computer and deleted not the bookmarks, but the "downloads" folder of random PDF's and other documents. Now, my bookmarks are all gone and I've taken all the mozilla steps to recover them to no success. I can't even find any browsing history to revisit the sites and create a new bookmark list. Is there a way to access my previous history and bookmarks?

Hi, how to automatically save or "backup" bookmarks to my account?

So that let's suppose I go to another computer, open up my account, and all my bookmarks will be there?

My computer got reset and all data deleted, and when I logged into FF again, all the bookmarks were gone.

I don't want to manually backup my bookmarks, it should be done automatically and connected to the account and stored on the FF server.

How to do this, is there even a way?

Pretty much what the title says: What happened if I did not choose to sync my bookmark and I delete them from the unsynced device ? Would it affect the other devices or would it only removes bookmarks from the unsynced device ? I just installed mozilla on my office and I don't want my bookmarks to appear in my office's pc while also want to sync my extensions, what should I do ?

Just downloaded and installed Firefox 119.0 When I CLICK ON A FLODER IN BOOKMARKS THE FOLDER DISAPPERS AND LEFT WITH A BLANK SPACE AND THE BOOKMAKS STILL APPEAR IN THAT FOLDER

Today i opened FF browser and i had to update it. I was also signed out. I signed back in and had to reset my password but all my data is now gone. This is the second time this has happened and I don't know where to find my original bookmarks and everything. Favorites. My vendor's websites and log ins. everything is gone. why does this happen if i have a saved profile with passwords, bookmarks, favorites. is it stored locally or on the cloud? I would assume if i have an account it should be backed up no matter what. Why is everything, why am i starting all over again? If i knew i had to back up my stuff BEFORE THESE UPDATES I WOULD HAVE but now my data is gone and I'm going to have to switch browsers because of this constant issue. i don't want to i like FF but i can't keep losing my bookmarks and saved data, passwords, etc etc.

Hi, my OS is LinuxMint 20. I noticed that my firefox version is 86 even though it was set to update automatically, nor was there a button to update manually. So I downloaded version 119 and unpacked it in a new folder. I did not find an installation file but the firefox file started up, but it was unconfigured and it could not find the bookmarks of my old still installed version even though the old version was still the standard browser and it did find the Opera browsers bookmarks. I found the old version in /lib/firefox, backed the folder up, and manually copied the files of the unpacked folder over, intending to update it that way. But the effect was only that the new unconfigured version started up. Restoring the old version by copying the backup folder back to /lib/firefox did not work; result was an error message that starting up an old version required a new profile, but that option did not restore my bookmark etc either. I took a look and it seems that these things are stored in another folder anyway (/home/.mozilla) but how can I access them? They certainly are still there given the folder size of 250MB.

Screen popped up suggesting to refresh firefox. Did so 2nd time it appeared. Now home page is radically different and bookmarks are no longer visible. There is a pulldown screen for bookmarks but some had been deleted ages ago and others used daily are no longer there. Did the "about:profile" process and opened a fold and it has a folder marked "bookmarks"

How do I recover all the bookmarks and have them displayed as previously (vertical listing on left side). Never had anything like this happen previously.

I have just updated to Firefox115.2.1 ESR. On the recommendation of Mozilla! The small icon next to my bookmarks are missing and the bookmark doesn't work. Only a few of the bookmarks have an icon. I have a large number of bookmarks, so I do not want to create them again. It would take me hours to do. I have tried to import bookmarks backup but nothing seems to happen.

I have just moved from Edge to Firefox as my default browser. I have successfully imported my Favorites from Edge. However, I have two issues that I have not been able to remedy.

Now that I have imported into Bookmarks, some items are shown under Bookmarks while other are shown under Other Bookmarks. Is there a way to merge the two, or will I have to move them individually?

Also, is it possible to have only my most used items show on the toolbar individually from left to right, and still show the Bookmark icon where everything else is listed on the right?
