Hi, I have a brand new macbook air and wanted to install my preferred browser, Firefox, but after installation Firefox will not launch. I’ve tried to install version 133.0.3 and when I try to launch it, Firefox always freezes and show 'Firefox (not responding)'. I have restarted my mac, reinstalled Sequoia OS, uninstalled/redownloaded/reinstalled, and I cannot get Firefox to launch, ever. Safari (built in) and DuckDuckGo (new install) browser both work.

Please let me know what I can try to do to get Firefox working.

Sometimes, when I copy and paste a Youtube link into Firefox or I open a Youtube video in a new tab, the video player won't load. Sometimes it's fixed when I reload the page, other times it can only be fixed if I open a new Youtube tab and paste the name of the youtube video in.

Notes: - Tested in privacy browser with only Ublock origin active (no other extensions), did not appear to have this problem (It's a bit difficult to test since it only comes up sometimes with opening Youtube in background tabs/copying and pasting a youtube video)

    - Something I noticed: video player appears to load a lot faster in privacy browser.
    - However, turned off all extensions and themes in non-privacy browser and still had the issue
    - Youtube pages load in the background of privacy browser, but in the normal browser I have to click on them to load

- Turned off hardware acceleration, didn't change anything - Tried troubleshoot mode, doesn't look like the issue is still there? But confused on why the issue still happens when I turn all extensions off not in troubleshoot mode

Wondering if it's an about:config issue? I don't think I changed anything in there, though.

My Firefox Version is up to date & I am using a 2019 iMac.

Recently tried to save a bookmark. When I clicked on Bookmarks, Bookmark Current Tab, a window appears, as usual, which allows you to save a new bookmark to a specific location (folder in My Bookmarks). I could not find the folder I wanted even though it was listed under the currently open window in My Bookmarks. In addition, I could not save the new bookmark to appear in My Bookmarks.

Note: most of the Bookmarks shown in the location selection window did match the My Bookmarks list, but not all of them

Have never had this issue. Any suggested fixes?

I've been on the phone to Apple support and just returned from the local Apple store and genius bar. My Mac Pro laptop was too old and would not support the newer OS. In installing a OS, I lost my bookmarks and the menu bar that gave easy access. I've since purchased a new Apple Air laptop and everything from the old laptop has been migrated over.

However, working with Apple support and the local genius bar Apple store rep., nobody has been able to help me rebuild the links to a menu bar for quick access. Presently I have some bookmarked. I have to go to the book marks to access any particular URL. All the directions on the web have not provided way to do this!

Yesterday I could open any or all of the downloaded apps on the screen of my Apple laptop. Today, I can't! WHAT IS GOING ON? Being elderly and not very techie (to say the least!), I need simple answers, no jargon please. Is it because my laptop is 'elderly' in tech terms (Catalina 10.15.7) or what? I've used Mozilla most of the time for very many years, but I might swap to Safari or Chrome instead if this isn't sorted out PDQ.

Firefox, when moved, opens in full screen. I've seen the info about hovering over the green button and choosing the correct mode, which doesn't seem to exist. There also seems a key command of Command-Control- (something), that doesn't work. Both of these strategies cause the problem to occur, again. Help? I'm on 132.02/Mac Sequoia. FF is my default browser. My computer is a new iMac (M3) desktop. I have used FF for several years without incident, until today. It opened normally, and then the familiar update pop-up said an update was available and invited me to re-start the browser. That requires providing admin credentials to the "Install the 'Helper tool' " pop-up, which I have done every time without incident, until today. A follow-on pop-up then asked if I wanted to allow Firefox to access other apps and devices, which I had never seen before. I said "No", and that was the end of my FF browsing experience. Every time I try to start the FF browser, it wants me to try to install the Helper tool; I provide admin creds, it goes away (fails), and the browser never starts.

I have a lot of bookmarked URLs and other browser-related data that are extremely important, and I cannot afford to lose them. Used Safari & Google & Mozilla helped me learn the location of the FF "Profile" folder. Navigated there and copied/pasted it (ends in ".default-release") to my "Documents" folder as a back-up copy. Downloaded a new instance of FF from Mozilla download page. Didn't open. Went to download folder, clicked the .dmg file, which opened a small pop-up. Followed the instructions to hold down the CTRL key while clicking "Eject Firefox". Nothing productive happened (no new FF icon). The old icon in the dock still doesn't start the app.

Would it be useful at this point to un-install Firefox (in Applications) and then try again to download a new version? If so, I would need help on how to make the old Profile folder (the back-up copy) available to the new instance.

Hello, ever since the latest update on my Firefox account on my I-Mac whenever I try to watch videos on YouTube they start and you watch about 30 seconds of it then you get the white arrow circle. You have to click on the timeline just in front of where it stopped for the video to continue. The video will continue for about 20 seconds and then freeze again. Then you click in front of where it froze on the timeline and it will continue for another 20 seconds. I have stopped using my preferd web browser FireFox and now have to use Safari. Please help!

Macbook med Sonoma 14.5. Firefox got stucked, probably because of to many tabs open. It shows at the bottom list, but not visible when trying to click on the icon, or pressing "command +tab". Tried to reinstall, but the system telling one Firefox is already open.

I can not update Firefox because my computer is MacPro Version 10.11.6. My computer will not accept new versions of its operating system. And your Firefox updates will not work on my version. So I am using 78.15.0esr . I do not know what to do - since I can not afford nor do I want to replace my MAC. All my important software is on it. All my important documents are on it. And it works beautifully.

I will have to continue to use Firefox 78.15.0esr . Can you suggest any alternatives for me?

moved thread from Firefox for iOS (for iPhone/iPad) to Firefox section.

When I click on Firefox, the top menu bar is dimmed. When I click on New Tab or New Window, nothing happens. I've downloaded, reinstalled and updated the latest version of Firefox but it doesn't work. I've also clicked Option when opening Firefox. I click Refresh Firefox and it works but when I quit and restart, I'm back to the same problem again.

I have a MacMini M2 with the current Sonoma os. Firefox has been updated. Frustrating. Yet prime videos won't play and get this notice:

"Mozilla Firefox update required A later version of Mozilla Firefox is required for Prime Video. To update, click the menu button (three horizontal stripes) on the web browser toolbar, click Help, About Firefox, and then click Restart to update Firefox."

I want to download some files, but it always fails. I discovered this is because there is no selected download location, but when i click "Choose", it doesn't open a file selector, nothing.

My issue is that whenever I do a fresh opening of the Firefox app on my 14" MacBook Pro, it immediately opens the App Store in the Twilio Authy app. Can anyone explain why this is occurring? Can someone tell me how to eliminate this problem and has it happened to anyone else?
