I've just started to test the ADMX files that are now available as of FF62 and ESR60, we are running the general release and not the ESR. In the past we had imported our certs into the CERT8.DB file using a VB Script during login.

I see that via the ADMX that there is now a variety of support options, including importing Root Certificates - but it does not seem to be working.

I try a URL in IE and it works fine, same URL in FF gives me a certificate warning.

Thoughts?

In chrome and or maybe even earlier versions of firefox, we were allowed to type in a url as an exception to run flash.

Now, we have to type the website into the browser, go there, and then add the flash exception from the top left "info" icon.

All,

I work for a small company that has recently changed their home intranet page. The original image used on the employee machines has firefox locked down, I.E. employees cannot change their home page manually. Is there an MSI that will complete a fresh install, but maintain the book marks on a per user basis? Or is there an MSI type installer that will only change the home page for all users?

Hi. I'm obligated to force firefox to open pdf files downloaded from web to open externally in foxit reader. As far as i've researched there is no option to set it in user.js in all local profiles of firefox (I've just tried to set pdfjs.disabled to true - but this ended file to download rather than open in foxit). Computers are in Windows AD domain (about 500). We have different versions of firefox across computers (mainly esr versions from 50 to 60). Is there any way to set firefox pref to open in external pdf viewer in all computers in this situation?

In the previous versions I could have a default profile configured and when a user launched FF for the first time it would copy that default profile to the users profile. This allowed me to set a variety of corporate configuration defaults.

We currently run Windows 7 (moving to 10 soon) Trying to get 60.6.0 ESR to work.

I've been using Firefox on all the public computers in our public library for years. I used to be able to protect the users from being harassed with pop-ups to update firefox (which the user cannot do anyway, because they're a guest user and don't have permission to install programs) by changing settings in about:config. Now that this doesn't work anymore, I am trying to use a policies.json file to prevent the update popup. This works fine if I am logged into Windows as a standard or elevated user, but when I run Firefox as a Guest user, the policies.json file is completely ignored. Is there some other folder where I need to put the file? Is there something else I can try like running Firefox Portable or some other trick? The update pop-up is now a constant annoyance for all the library's users and I'd like to make it go away.

We're running reports from our Software deployment tools and after pushing update 70 on Windows 7 machines, version 69.x of Firefox is still reporting as being installed. When we push an uninstall task for version 69.x, it removes all bookmarks and passwords for users on the PC. Windows 10 does not appear to have this same issue. We believe it may be because version 70 is forcing x64 install and we had x86 69.x installed previously.

Preinstalled Extension in FF 68.1.0esr doesn't work

Hi, I am preparing a firefox enterprise installation on windows server 2019 with a special configuration and a preinstalled extension. This is a single installation that will be used by all users accessing the server.

Here are the steps I followed:

  1. I installed firefox: Firefox_setup_68.1.0-esr.msi
  2. I transferred our policies.json file to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\distribution
  3. I transferred our autoconfig.js file to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\browser\defaults\preferences
  4. I transferred ourextName@ourdomain.local.xpi file to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\browser\extensions.

By running FireFox, I can see that both the policies and the configurations have been correctly considered, while the extension does not work.

After doing various tests I can say that:

  • the extension is correctly loaded and enabled, in autoconfig.json there are these directive:
   pref("extensions.autoDisableScopes", 0);
   pref("extensions.enabledScopes", 15);

  • the extension is not signed, but in the autoconfig.json file there is the directive:
   pref ("xpinstall.signatures.required", false);
  • trying to install the extension from the Add-ons Manager using the item: Install Add-on from file ... It works correctly. Unfortunately I can't use this option, because Extension is installed only for current user.

So, given that the extension works, what's wrong with the preparation procedure, is the directory wrong or some configuration are missing?

Do preinstalled extensions need additional files or a different layout?

I also tried without our policies.json file and leaving only the directive that allows xpi file without signature in the autoconfig.json file and autoDisableScopes/enableScopes.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks
