I'm a tech in an Enterprise environment and we have a user with a Win 7 desktop whose Firefox keeps uninstalling itself. People will reinstall it and it will be fine for a few days and then it disappears again. We talked about reimaging the computer but I don't want to do that if it won't fix the problem.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks.

Hi Everyone,

(see image attach).

Re-installing does not change anything...

I tried deleting the User profile registry entries and the %Localappdata%\Mozilla folder without any success. the message in the Event viewer is: Log Name: Application Source: Application Hang Date: 21/08/2020 11:14:34 AM Event ID: 1002 Task Category: (101) Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: Description: The program firefox.exe version 68.11.0.7506 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. We use Firefox ESR in our enterprise and have been using 32bit for a very long time even though we have all Windows 64 bit OSs, we are now attempting to move from Firefox 68.x ESR 32bit to Firefox 78.x ESR 64bit. The issue we are seeing is the Firefox profile does not automatically get picked up after the upgrade has taken place, our process is to uninstall the previous version and then install the new version. We know we can recover the profile by opening the browser and going to about:profiles but asking a user community or thousands makes it a little difficult on our end user support. Is there a way to automate the profile move during the upgrade of the browser in this scenario? Also not that a lot of our users have more than one profile in thier user folder so if there is an automated way of doing this how can we tell which profile is their current default profile?

The format below aligns with what is listed here "https://github.com/mozilla/policy-templates/blob/master/README.md#extensionsettings" and this is not working as expected. Good morning Mozilla Community,

I have a question regarding the behaviour when opening a .pdf file from web email. We are using FF 68.11.0esr on a terminal server environment and we customize it via config file.

When opening a .pdf or even office docs, Firefox asks what to do with this file. When selected open with Adobe Reader and check mark that it should do this from now on with all pdf files it doesn't do that. The next time when I try to open a .pdf the same dialog window appears again but it remembered the check mark. But it should open the file directly in Adobe Reader without showing the dialog window. I tried to do it in "safe mode" and even "refreshed" Firefox but no improvement.

Does anyone might know why Firefox is not remembering my setting for opening files? See attached screenshots. Thanks in advance for your support in this matter. It is much appreciated.

Hi.

I have a problem using the p12 certificates stored in Windows. security.osclientcerts.autoload is set in the registry under CU and LM under \SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\Preferences >>"security.osclientcerts.autoload"=dword:00000001 When checking about:config it's also set to true. The good thing: The certificates show up in Firefox version 77.0.1, where the certificates are listed. The bad thing: as standard browser we use is Firefox ESR version 68.9.0, where the certificates are not listed.

What I have seen by now security.osclientcerts.autoload has been implemented in ESR version 68.4.x .... is that the only version oder also for newer ones ?

And if also for newer ones, what could be the problem,.... and / or the solution for this problem ?

Appreciate for your help.

Kind regards Tom

Hello -

I'm looking to upgrade clients in my enterprise environment from x86 to x64. I've consulted the KB at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles and I'm wondering if there is a way to launch this profile manager at launch, or a way to import the bookmarks from x86 to x64. In my testing, I have not seen this Profile Manager launch automatically on first run of an install of x64.

Hello,

The company I work for has a very large Flex system making it impossible to migrate to another technology until 2020.

My suggestion is to keep the current version of mozilla as it is running the flash player, I would disable automatic updates and freeze the browser in the current version.

My question is: whether this work after 2020?

Hello, As of Firefox 76 there is a new user profile.

For different customers in VMWare /Citrix environments I need to upgrade Firefox from an ESR release to the latest one., but I cannot find a simple solution to upgrade profiles to the new one in bulk.

I found articles about profile managers in combination with or without sync, but that is an option. Customers are within government and public health sector. Data to be sent into the cloud is therefor not an option.

How can I : 1. Have a simple solution to upgrade profiles in bulk.

OR 2. Have an option where users can use the old profile to continue working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards, Joe

We currently use roaming profiles at our site on our Windows 10 computers. Firefox profile data is created in %appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox for our users (which falls in our redirected AppData location and therefore is written to our fileserver).

I am looking at implementing some Firefox settings in Group Policy to control certain settings for our users, but I find when I make settings there, profile data lands in %localappdata%\Mozilla\Firefox instead, and this data is *NOT* saved to the fileserver.

Is there a setting in the Firefox ADMX package that allows one to redefine where the Firefox profile data is created? I've looked through the settings in version 2.3 of the Firefox ADMX package, and I'm not finding it.

The issue is, that we use Firefox ESR and I can't see if the MAR files for auto-update are available for ESR.

Has anybody done this?

This webpage: [|Managing Firefox with Intune] has old instructions that aren't valid anymore for Azure. Specifically, Step 3 for Initial Setup and "Step 2" for ""Adding individual policies"".

Microsoft has apparently renamed Intune to "Microsoft Endpoint Manager", which is now at https://endpoint.microsoft.com.

To get to the proper location needed in these instructions, "Step 2" should be changed to something like:

'Go to "Microsoft Endpoint Manager", then ""Devices"", followed by ""Configuration profiles"" (https://endpoint.microsoft.com/#blade/Microsoft_Intune_DeviceSettings/DevicesMenu/configurationProfiles)'
