I normally open messages in tabs under exactly one circumstance: when I right-click on a message and explicitly open it in a tab.

I've found that (until I changed the handling of PDFs to "Save file") any PDFs that opened using Thunderbird's preview function would reopen if I closed and relaunched Thunderbird. This is not desired behavior.

I will also note that if I open Settings, it opens in a tab, rather than a separate window. This is neither expected nor desired (and my natural reaction is to click the close button on the window, closing Thunderbird, because "Settings" is something I expect to be in a window, not a tab. And that, too, reopens if I reopen Thunderbird.

And worst of all, those tabs that shouldn't be reopening at all are reopening in front of the main tab.

There was an extension called "Thunderbird-DontRestoreTabs," that would do exactly what I want, but that was made obsolete when the underlying extension technology was deprecated, so it is of no use in 115.9.0.

It is annoying that search executes immediately instead of triggering on enter keypress, especially when a web page is big. Is there any way to disable auto-search and trigger it only when you press enter?

I currently have a 'bad/rouge' session of Windows 7 Firefox (don't really know how that happened) open (7 'Windows', each with one empty Tab plus 1 'Window', with only 1 populated tab (Yahoo Mail)! I need to close Firefox in order to restart my laptop (strange things have been happening, including not being able to access the internet)!! On restarting, I want to be able to open Firefox with the previous session I had with my 8 'Windows', each with dozens and dozens of Tabs! Please help, I sorely need those many 'Windows' and Tabs!!!

I want to export mails only of a certain mail account (I have got 6). I would like not to export ALL accounts in ONE zip file but I want to have different zips. Is that possible? Why do I want that? I am active in 3 different organisations and I have a private account and - it can almost not be avoided - a google mail account. So when I look for a certain mail I know which zip I have to import and to look for it. Years ago I used MS outlook and I had the possibility to create archives as defined for each account and - if necessary and wanted - for each year. Is this also possible in Thunderbird? If yes HOW? In Firefox Android, Could you add an option to disable the display of the message "Entering Full Screen Mode" when entering a full screen mode for a web app such as an online video player? I find it annoying because I can clearly see that the video player is in full screen mode and the message just blocks whatever I'm trying to view in the video player like the subtitles of a video.

Hi, since I use a set of different browsers for different tasks, it would be great if there was an easy way of opening links from within thunderbird emails to your browser of choice. E.g. via right mouse button: Open Link in ... I use that method in other applications frequently.

Every time i go onto a site like YouTube, Chess.com, ChatGPT etc, it asks for my login each time and i know there is a setting for it to remember me so i do not have to log into my account every time i use the site but I have looked everywhere and still fail to see it. Where about can i turn this setting on so i do not have to sign into my profile to use the relevant site. Thank you.

The 'add "outlook.live.com" as an application for mailto links' keeps popping up continuously after I click to X to delete the banner message. How do I disable it? Firefox should have a "don't remind me again" option. I do not want to add mailto links or make any changes. Thank You!

Basically, I copied this from an old post that I didn't understand the solution when I move my mouse to the top of the screen in fullscreen, the adressbar and tabs come up, I hate that how do I fix it

I created my email signature and saved it as an HTML file. When I add it in my account settings, it displays the logo I have as a blank box. It also adds extra spacing in between each line. How do I get it to display the way I saved it?

I have used Thunderbird with no problems for a decade. Now it works on startup and if I keep the tab open, but if I exit Thunderbird, clicking on the icon does not re-open it. Then I have to restart in order for Thunderbird to open. Once open it works fine. Something has changed to prevent Thunderbird from re-opening via the icon. Could you please suggest what is causing the problem and how to fix it. I am using Windows 10. Thank you

I want to set unthreaded as default column view for all folders, and then that column view to be used on all new subfolders I create, but without having to use advanced settings various workarounds (it is and should be called for what it is...) which is currently the standard response when users is asking how to change from threaded to unthreaded column view. Why can't this setting be simply implemented as part of the standard gui?

As you can see here, despite me setting custom colors and checking every setting i could find, i can't seem to find what will turn this white color to grey or black,

does anyone know how to fix this?
