It seems that this problem is common in firefox community. So first of all I basically tried all default troubleshooting steps such as dealing with cookies (turning off, tuning on, exceptions), cleaning data, cleaning cache, security settings, etc etc, even though I am on freshly installed firefox.

So lets see now, problem is with https://vk.com/ website. It works until processing my login info. After I enter necessary credentials, it reloads and just produces infamous error. Network monitor displays loop of login.vk.com domain migrating cookies to login.vk.ru which restores them and then finally trying to open actual account php page starts the loop anew. Well until NS_ERROR_REDIRECT_LOOP stops this shamelessness. Resetting all browser data back, just enables me to enter my credentials again and the same process starts again. I can access this website from the same network from different browsers from different devices and operating systems.

Currently I encounter this problem on recently installed Arch linux, with basically dwm and firefox, and since I had very rough time with how unpredictable this system were so far, I don't know how much it is browser issue, so I think I should mention it.

When trying to update Firefox on my Linux Mint system, I saw this in settings:

Updates disabled by your system administrator. Well, I am the administrator. I checked and I have administrator privilege, and I would not have disabled updates. How to I convey that to Firefox so I can update my browser?

I am using Tor nowadays because I get a trojan horse or other possible threats, every time using Firefox. I use ClamTk on my HP computer with Linux Mint 21.1 installed.

These are the 3 files that usually turn up after a full scan with ClamTk:

Mozilla Firefox PUA.Win.Trojan.Xored-1 Mozilla Firefox PUA.Html.Exploit.CVE_2012_ Mozilla Firefox PUA.win.Exploit.CVE_2012_none

I found out when my website turned out to be hacked, so I installed the ClamTk virus scanner.

My OS is ubuntu20.046LTS, and the Firefox is 118.0.2. Just like the images i post, i can't play the videos at all, but i can play the youtube videos. The developer tools console in twitter video post shows 2 errors:

 The Content-Security-Policy: The page’s settings blocked the loading of a resource at data:i (“object-src”);
 The connection to https://api.twitter.com/live_pipeline/events?topic= was lost while loading the page.

I thought my problem may be related to these errors so i post them. Alough i can play the videos in chrome normally, but i used to the Firefox, please help me

This isn't a constant issue for me, but occasionally the browser will suddenly break such that when I switch tabs, nothing actually updates until I do something like restore/maximise the window. I can still interact with the page itself, but whether using the mouse or keyboard shortcuts, changing, opening, or closing tabs, or even typing in the navigation bar, won't do anything until I resize the window again. I haven't been able to figure out any pattern to when this state triggers, but after it does, it doesn't clear up without closing and reopening the browser. I have recorded a video showing this behavior but I am unable to upload it here, and still images would not properly convey the issue.

Hello, after updating Firefox to v.119 a couple of issues have developed that I can’t seem to resolve.

First of all the Firefox logo has disappeared from my home page. To show what I mean here are some screenshots: The 1st one shows what I see when I open the browser as normal - as can be seen I have several extensions normally in use so the 2nd image shows Firefox opened in ‘Troubleshoot’ mode.

Both these two were taken with the Privacy & Security settings set to ’Strict‘, the 3rd image shows ‘Troubleshoot ’mode with Privacy & Security set to ‘Standard’. ~~~ Now onto the subject of fonts; I’ve done some searching around and even with the Privacy & Security settings customized to ignore fingerprinting, Firefox still ignores my font-setting preference, which is FreeSerif, usually at 14 or 16pt size. Despite me unchecking the setting to allow websites to use their own fonts I cannot get any page to load using my preferred font. This causes me problems as I suffer from a particular type of astigmatism which makes san-serif fonts difficult to read.

since version 119 of Firefox a download behaves siometimes different. The directory and "Ask before save" are still valid. But sometimes Firefox start to save in the directory without asking. Why behaves version 119 sometimes different in comparison with previous versions like 118?

When I open Firefox, the wrong town name is always there with temperature. Can't Firefox remember my town name? I'm getting a little upset that so simple a problem can't be fixed automatically. Sincerely Bob

Hello, I'm trying to use https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Add-ons/WebExtensions/API/dom/openOrClosedShadowRoot functionality in an extension but the element.openOrClosedShadowRoot always returns null.

Also is there a place in Firefox Devtools console (similar to the Chrome Devtools dropdown) to switch the context from the user console to the extension console so we can try extension only APIs?

A few days ago Ubuntu (22.04 LTS) showed me a message saying I can upgrade my OS (or something along those lines). I click on agree (any button that would let me proceed) and the upgrade took place (without restarting). Along with the upgrade Firefox was also updated to its latest version at the time (119.0). Since then, videos on Twitter play but without sound. On some other websites also none of the videos play. On YouTube, Firefox shows me a message saying "To play video, you may need to install the required video codecs" but the videos play fine; I haven't tried other websites but I assume all would have some issues. Google Chrome however doesn't have this issue and all videos play without any issues.

Note that I have not restarted my computer since the upgrade. I doubt this could be an issue but please let me know if you think this could be the issue.

I did the followings and restarted Firefox but none have worked so far for Twitter and some other random websites that I come across, but they resolved the issue for YouTube and now YouTube videos play, although I still get that codec message at the top of the tab:

sudo apt-get install ffmpeg sudo apt install ubuntu-restricted-extras sudo apt install libavcodec-extra

Someone told me this is because the default Firefox on Ubuntu 22 comes as a snap package and I should install the APT package manually instead so that it works. I prefer not to do this because I have lots of tabs open and have manually changed lots of the settings (including in about:config) that I want to preserve. I would also like to preserve the history of visited websites and keep the current cookies (don't really want to keep entering username/password on the same websites again). So the best way for me is to fix the issue for the default Firefox on Ubuntu 22.

Could you help me figure out what I should do to fix this issue?

When a "+" sign is entered, alone, into address bar, a list of some visited sites instantly appears. How do I delete these sites and prevent sites from being saved in the future?

I've searched everywhere I can find for an answer to this question, or for a place to submit it, and failed.

In Privacy & Security > History I've un-checked all except "Clear history when Firefox closes" which is checked. In > "Address Bar--Firefox Suggest", I've disabled all options.

I clear "Recent History, Everything" (Cookies and Site Settings are left unchecked) frequently.

I have never maximized a Firefox window and I never will. After the latest update, all new windows, whether they are opened from another page via right-click or directly from the toolbar icon, open in a maximized view. I do not want this. Is there a way to prevent your program from inserting itself directly on top of everything else I'm working on? Have I accidentally changed a setting I cannot find again? I'd like to know if I need to find a new browser.

Hello, I've got a reproduction issue on France TV live programs which I watch through nordvpn. The picture keeps "jumping" fast up and down in a very bothering way. This doesn't happen when the video is NOT live. I run the latest version of LINUX MINT. What can I do to fix it? The only way I found to stop the issue is to take down the resolution of the live video to its minimum which gives me a disastrous picture but stops the "jumping". I guess you might say there is something wrong with my GPU. The point is that my PC is brand new with an AMD 5600G, new MB, 16Gb of RAM and 500w of PSU. BUT more than anything I have to say that everything WORKS FINE with CHROME. I like FIREFOX I have been using it literally for decades now. (I'm 75). Is there a solution? I have been using Thunderbird for many years, and really like it - until two recent updates (sorry!). I am running Ubuntu 22.04, and Thunderbird 115.4.1. One now has a column taken on the left which is unnecessary, and a section at the top which is above the menus with e.g. File... but I would like my File menu at the top, as it used to be. The second issue is more frustrating - the search facility, where one can find the emails being sought, allows me to search by many options, and I was able to display the results sorted by subject, size or my normal was by date, but I never use the message threads as that is rarely of interest, and I can sort on that using the message subject if needed. Now, when I search the results are ONLY in the message threads, and if I try to sort by date, I lose all information, and the ONLY option is to see the messages by thread which is no use to me! How can I restore good old Thunderbird - the version I enjoy using (or have the functionality I had restored)?! Many thanks,

a webside is not avalable when i use Firefox as Browser. It hase a valid SSL-Certificate. When i use chrome, edge, opera or vivaldi i can open the webside normaly. Only Firefox does not work. How can i fix that?

I have DNS over HTTPS enabled and set to Default Protection in Firefox.

According to the following article (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/dns-over-https?as=u&utm_source=inproduct#w_why-would-a-network-tell-firefox-not-to-use-secure-dns) DNS over HTTPS should automatically switch to "Not Active" when connected to a VPN.

I am using the NordVPN CLI for linux and have found that when I connect to the VPN, Firefox DNS over HTTPS stays active and does not switch to "Not Active" like it is supposed to.

Does anyone know why this might be happening?

when I try to click drop down menus on rpg mo, like settings/game options or anything in the gear drop down menu it wont let me click. I can't play rpg mo is there a reason for this like is it not html they are using but it works on windows? I am using suse linux leap.

Hello, I did something stupid. I was trying to set up the dark/light theme via cli, and I asked openai about it.

It suggested this command:

Which resulted in the following error:

jq: parse error: Invalid numeric literal at line 1, column 11

When I opened mozilla, my profile was reset, and websites won't load (except this one!). They just hang there loading forever. My internet is fine, chromium works perfectly.

So how do I fix this and is there a way I can recover my profile? (Yes I know I should've made backups)

I accidentally hid the menu bar and toolbars (with an accidental keyboard shortcut, I think), and when I re-enabled them, now the tab bar is above the location bar instead of right above the content windows. How do I move it back? I can't find the "browser.tabs.onTop" setting in about:config, or any check box in the View menu, settings, etc.

I'm using Firefox 119.0.1 on Ubuntu Linux.
