I keep Firefox updated automatically, including plug-ins, and haven't any malware on my computer. For the last two or so weeks, sometimes Firefox will gobble my disk space usage to 100%. I have to use Task Manager to restart it, and frankly I'm starting to get tired of it.

Updating Malwarebytes and Super AntiSpyware to run scans, but in the event that doesn't do anything, what else would you suggest? I've been using IObit's Smart Defrag 4 frequently to do some serious defragging, but don't believe that could be the source.

Thanks for any help.

Last month I used the wootstalker.com site while shopping Woot.com during a woot off.

Ever since then, whenever I use Firefox, my browser will randomly play a sound that is one of the chimes on that wootstalker site (not the main woot site). It is the Zelda Chime. Normally that's my go to sound on wootstalker, but that day, I used the monkey just for fun. I distinctly remember that because that's why it was odd that I started hearing the zelda sound.

I've been very concerned about this because I didn't know what was doing it at first, and it seems to have spread from one computer to another (one Win 10, one Win 7). But if it's something in Firefox, maybe that's why, because I'm logged into my firefox account on both computers.

Today I was able to capture a screen shot of the Windows Volume Mixer while the sound was playing, so it is coming from a Firefox Plugin (see picture, if it loads).

My concern is that I have a subscription to BitDefender Total Security, so I have that running and I've done scans and it hasn't flagged anything. I also have AntiMalwareBytes running and ran scans, and it hasn't found anything. So if this is malware, it's something new or well hidden.

Hopefully it's just some glitch with the plugin in Firefox that's been synced between my machines, but either way, I'm tired of it happening, and I'd like to figure out what is causing it.

If there's any more information I can provide, please let me know. Thank you.

Why has New York Times home page changed its appearance but only in Firefox?

This happened overnight, but only in Firefox and only in OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) - Safari and Chrome still display correctly despite not being updated anymore for this old OS (which I keep on my desktop because it still works well). My laptop has 10.11.4 (El Capitan), and the NYT home page displays the same as usual in Firefox. All I can guess is that NYT or FF or both tweaked something and the result is in the attached image - Firefox is on the left and Safari on the right (Chrome displays the same as Safari). Firefox has removed all italics; it's moved features around on the page - like put the scrolling timed stories that are supposed to be on the right side of the page to the center; put news articles in the upper right which is supposed to be only Opinion; on the left under what's named "Editors' Picks" has a long list of stories mixed in from all different sections instead of the stories being located in their sections (World, US, Politics, New York, etc.). Firefox is getting more and more problematic - especially in speed, which has slowed down a lot recently, at least in Apple devices. But reordering a site's home page into something much less usable and rational is a new one. Is anybody else having this issue?

I received a message stating that " Total Browser Security could not be verified for use in Firefox and has been disabled." Total Browser Security is made by Mozilla which makes Firefox!!! So Why in the heck could it NOT BE VERIFIED for use in FIREFOX?

So I would like to Delete it/Remove it from my list of "Extensions". however I have tried to remove it following all of the suggested methods, but have been unsuccessful. Is there a way to actually remove it?

Also, would the Total Browser Security disabled keep causing the Adobe Flash Plug-in to crash, and cause all of my web browsers to freeze and crash and then cause my computer to freeze? Or could that just be due to my computer being 9 years old?

I plan on building a new computer either later this year or early next year, whenever I get the money. I am trying to make this computer last.

I have a website on HostPapa (the website is www.banfieldsholidayflats.com) and recently I have had added SSL single domain security. I was led to believe that when this has been done a green padlock and the words 'https' will automatically show up to the right of the website name, showing that it was a safe website.

On checking it with my own computer, which uses Mozilla Firefox 45.0.2 version, the padlock and https do not show. I have been in contact with HostPapa who say that everything is correct and in place. In fact, they have sent me a page grab showing my website with the padlock and https in place, and where they have used Mozilla as their browser.

Have you any suggestions please.

Kind regards,

I am using Firefox 45.0.2. Been having this problem for a while now, but finally getting sick of it. When I open yahoo mail, the top of my inbox is about halfway down the page, and I can only see about 10 emails. There is no scroll bar on the right hand side of the page.

Also, I have extended the right side of the inbox, but if I use the scroll bar on the inbox, it automatically reduces the horizontal size of the inbox. I have disabled adblock plus on this page (as well as many other pages, since the last Firefox update - that's another story), without anything changing. Not sure what else might be causing this issue.
