I started using Claude in the side panel instead of a dedicated tab, but there is something noise about it: every time I click to open the side panel the chat starts from scratch. Getting a clean slate is nice, but it takes too much time loading. So I would like to not unload the content of the panel when I close it, just hide it, so when I click to open is already loaded. There is a way to do that?

I just installed Thunderbird on Windows 11 Pro, but unable to create a new Local Folder in . Thunderbird - somehow the Outgoing Server (SMTP) option at the bottom of my email list disappeared from my email accounts so I can't add different outgoing servers for my different email accounts. I have tried everything. I dont know how it disappeared and don't know how to get it back pls advise. Regards.

I cannot find how to set "Folder Modes" in Thunderbird 140.1.1esr (32-bit) for Windows 10. The "Get Messages" icon and "New Message" button have vanished on updating Thunderbird. I would like to set up the new version as shown in the attached image.

Hi All, I just installed Thunderbird on a new laptop and I'm away from my desktop, where everything works fine. I do receive messages but .. I see messages, regardless in card view or list view ... but NO message content ... meaning ... in the same window, after selecting a message...right beside it. Yes, I can view the content but only when right-clicking the message > open > open in (options). But that is not how it always was, how it works at home on my laptop, not how it should be. I should see the message content as soon as I select one.

Focus is my default browser, and I use it exclusively for just that (open links from 3rd party apps). When I need to dive deeper into a website, I simply open it in another browser. My only complaint? There’s a menu option that says "Open in default browser"—which is pointless when this *is* the default. It would be much better if Focus could check whether it was already set as default and, if so, open the page in Safari (or whatever the current default browser is at the time of clicking “set default browser” in Focus settings). That small tweak would make it perfect. Otherwise, it does exactly what I need—simple and efficient.

The Send bar has disappeared KAMI 30 sep. 2025 19:35:12 Hi, to customize the toolbar in Thunderbird: Right-click on an empty space next to the Search bar in the toolbar. Select Customize… (Toolbar) from the context menu. A window will appear showing all available buttons and the current toolbar layout. You can drag and drop buttons to add, remove, or rearrange them. When you’re done, click Done to save your changes. This is the quickest way to restore missing buttons like Send, Attach, or any other tools you use frequently.

Unfortunately, the bottons like Send and Attach are not available here in my application!

I am using both a POP3 account and a gmail account through thunderbird and getting on OK , however the gmail folders are at the top of the folder pane and I would like to see a facility of being able to move the folders in that pane so that I can have my POP3 email account at the top and move the gmail (imap) account underneath it instead of what it is at the moment with imap being at the top.

I would like to make my computer start Thunderbird automatically everytime it starts. However, I can not find the way to set it in settings. How to make Thunderbird start automatically when computer start?

I don't know which question best describes my question. I have always used Firefox because it had two boxes for searching. This meant that you could type a search into the second box while keeping the first box open. Now that second url box is gone. How can I get it back? I used it all the time!

I have uploaded an image of my view of the email client. As you can see, there are two columns under the red arrows. I have made them appear through a menu accessible by three dots. Somehow, I have lost that menu but touching the wrong choice and I would like to be able to access it again so that I can remove the two colums indicating the number of emails and their weight. Can you help me to retrieve that menu?

I am new to Thunderbird email after years of using the KOffice suite in KDE, once that stopped working I decided to switch.

I saw a notice that email notifications are being worked on, I just wanted to document the behavior I am seeing in case it's helpful in any way.

I am running on openSUSE 15.6, Thunderbird 128.7 in the KDE Desktop environment (Plasma Version 5.27.11, Frameworks 5.115.0)

I have my Thunderbird settings to show an Alert, Use the system notifications and play a sound, the default. The sound plays, but never is there a pop-up to draw attention to it. The notification is set to show Preview Text, Subject and Sender.

I would like to set a "default" background_image for the message preview pane when no message is displayed. Currently, the background_color I selected is displayed only if a message is selected (Oddly, this color is also displayed on other panes like Settings). A white background is displayed when no message is selected. Google search results usually include some config variable that does not appear in the list under config editor (deleted or deprecated?). Any ideas would be appreciated.

I exported my settings from desktop thunderbird when setting up Thunderbird Android 20 but discovered it was automatically marking messages as read. That makes it difficult to have a peek at messages when I'm out (in case there's something urgent) but still see those messages as unread when I return to the desktop.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1504592 claims to have found the option to do that, but it's an old message that has been archived without ever saying where that option was found. I've tried settings search as well as a visual search of all settings without seeing a relevant option.

Does that option actually exist? Or do I have to go back to K9 (which, at least in v19, had that option)?
