It seems like on the first search in a session, after the most recent Firefox update, the search window opens a new blank tab that goes nowhere. I have to close the blank tab and search again to get search results. I've tried different search engines.

I gave permission to access/show my location. I live in Western New York. When I do any searches instead of showing results in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls area of New York, I get search results from Canada. How do I turn off or correct my location?

I have been using Firefox for years and had no problems. I have it setup for custom URL home page to yahoo. When I go in and try to search anything, it shows about:blank. If i try several times it will work. For testing, I tried google chrome and do not have this problem.

Any thoughts?

I have ran into a peculiar problem where special characters from non US keyboard do not work in search. In my case it is ％ for TABS specifically (instead of english %). I wanted to correct the problem by changing 'Keyword' field in 'Search Engine' but it is read-only for browser functions. Is there a workaround or a solution I'm missing? Thanks for your help

Someone seems to have messed with the search tab. For better or worse, I use Google most of the time, The search tab used to default to Google. If I occasionally want a different search tool, e.g. Wikipedia, I would use the dropdown list. Now it seems to default to the last used search tool. How can I get rid of this "improvement"?

It seems that most times Firefox does an update, it deletes the Amazon UK search tool and does not provide any option to put it (or any Amazon tool) back. Where is it on the list of search tools?

I suspect what I'm about to describe is intended behavior and I'm just doing things Wrong.

Sometimes I want to specify a search engine; sometimes I don't. This is awkward when my search terms include the shortcut for an engine for some reason (it happens to me more often than you'd think). To date, I've handled that case by using the address bar (ctrl-l by default) when I want to do an engine-specific search, and the search bar (ctrl-k by default) when I want to explicitly prevent that, because the search bar doesn't support search shortcuts.

Search shortcut support appears to have been added to the most recent update I received (149.0), breaking this flow (and incidentally breaking muscle memory for tabbing from one bar to the other, but that's less annoying). I could add a common prefix (presumably a symbol key) to all my search shortcuts to get similar behavior, but I'm fairly attached to the home row; every bucky bit is a small but noticeable pain on my wrists.

I'd like to know how to disable search shortcuts only in one bar or the other (I don't care which); or, alternately, a better way to achieve the same goal. At present my next-best-alternative is to train myself to *always* use an explicit search shortcut...which I can live with if necessary, but it's not ideal.

I have a search saved as a folder. I use it on my Gmail many times a day and have for a long time. But in the past week or two it has started disappearing. I recreate it and it disappears again a few days later. Any idea what I can do about this?

When trying to search in Yahoo, using Firefox, About:Blank comes up instead in a new tab. I have to hit the X to close the new tab, and then hit enter again and I will then get my search results. I have 2 PCs and a laptop and they ALL are having this problem since the last Firefox update. I have tried ALL of the recommended fixes, I have refreshed firefox, cleared cache and cookies, turned off firewall, antivirus, extensions, etc. I have even tried some of the config recommended changes and NOTHING works. It is definitely a Firefox problem and NOT a yahoo problem because all works fine in Chrome and Edge.

I got a new pc and wanted Firefox, but chose Startpage as my search engine. Then there was a big problem so I changed it to Duckduckgo, which I had on my old pc. It was ok, but then it changed today to giving me startpage again even though I made the change on the Firefox settings page. I can't find a way to eliminate Startpage. Help?

I like tabs to open in the background. I've found a way to do this for most instances, but not when I search while typing in the address bar.

Is it possible ?

SEARCH MODE IS NOT WORKING IN MAIN OR SUB FOLDERS. AS A TEST, I SEARCHED FOR A WORD THAT I KNEW WERE IN THOSE FOLDER[S] AND IT COULD NOT FIND. IT SHOULD NOT BE THAT HARD TO DO; THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN DOGGING ME FOR YEARS AND I JUST MOVED ON WITH NO ANSWER. PLEASE HELP.

My Firefox browser is being redirected to Yahoo. I've tried all suggested fix solutions but no sucess. Ive unistalled and reinstalled Firefox but Yahoo redirect remains.

The same problem affected Chrome but I was able to reset the default to google and remove all the Yahoo serch engines from Chrome.
