As of yessterday, whenever I click on a link in Thunderbird, it opens or tries to open a new browser window. even if Firefox is already open, the first click in an email will open it in a new window (this never happened before).
if i click on a second link, for a while nothing happens then i get the message "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To use Firefox, you must first close the existing Firefox process, restart your device, or use a different profile."
i have to close ALL other Firefox windows if i want to click on a second link.
i could not find any way in Thunderbird to change this behaviour, so i tried to see if something in Firefox needed to be changed. i was then very surprised to discover at the top of the Firefox Settings this message: "Your browser is being managed by your organisation."
I'm an individual, at home, not an organisation. No organisation could or should be managing my browser settings and I have never seen this before.
i am now going a bit crazy going round in circles trying to solve the original problem and find out what this "managed by your organisation" means & whether that has anything to do with anything. it seems other people have also had this "managed by your organisation" problem, but all the solutions i can find relate to either windows (i'm on linux) or antivirus software (which i'm not using).
i did do some routine updates a couple of days ago so i'm assuming that something in that has changed either thunderbird or firefox, but i cannot for the life of me understand what. any help much appreciated!
