Firefox has begun opening very [very!] slowly, as well as crashing and freezing during use. This is happening on all of my three machines, two running Win 7 and one Win 8. I have tried refreshing and disabling hardware acceleration, but to no avail. Now it seems to freeze on opening and takes a minute or two even to become responsive, if at all. When I look at Task Manager during a freeze I see the Firefox process is using 35-50% of memory [i have 8GB, 12GB and 16GB] and up to 50% of processsor resources. All has been fine until the last couple of weeks. As an adjunct, in the last month I have noticed an almost permanent error message on the status bar - "Sync encountered an error while synchronising: Unknown error. Sync will automatically retry this action."

Firefox 17.0.1 I find no ability to remove a sync account. System requires that I "setup a sync account", a sync account using my email address already exists but I cannot get to it to sync a previously synced iPhone via "Bookmarks". I therefore wish to remove the existing "sync account" and start over.

I have a working Firefox Sync account with 3 computers synced. That is, I already have working 3 computers with a working Sync account across them. I want to add a 4th computer, but I need my recovery key. I don't have it. The instructions say, To get a copy of my Recovery Key, I need to "At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button and then click options, then Sync, then Manage Account." I can't find a Firefox button with any choice of Options. There is an Options choice under Tools, but under Sync, but there is no Manage Account button. I can't start over and re-register because Firefox says my email account already has an account (I agree). Please, where is this Manage Account button?

When I get my bookmarks the way I want them on my computer and delete the ones I do not want it gets messed up. I have 4 computers on my account and every time I sync it brings up old book marks. I have deleted all book marks from my computer and set up a new sync account then deleted all book marks on my other computers. Then I set up the new sync account on all the computers and still brings up Book marks. There should not be any book marks because I deleted all book marks from all computers before I set up the new account. I have done this 2 times and it they come back. How can I clear all my accounts and start over???????????

Hello, I am a bit of a tinkerer and a tech junkie. However, I still find sync to be a very useful and handy tool, and have it applied to all of my devices (tablets, phone, multiple computers). Due to my never-ending quest to make things better, though, I am frequently changing OS'es and uninstalling apps/rearranging registries on many of these devices, so I often find myself needing to reinstall firefox (and thus re-sync).

The only problem here is that sync recognizes each new iteration as its own separate device, even though a vast majority of them cease to exist entirely and are gone forever. This makes my "Tabs From Other Devices" page a huge pain to access, as most of the device names are the same and a lot still have active pages in them.

How would I go about deleting these old accounts from my sync account? Changing my password does no good at all, as since the devices cannot access the server any longer they are still present in my database, and as such are still annoying. Any help is appreciated!

It does not appear that there is a Firefox browser for the iPhone. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

If there isn't a Firefox browser for my iPhone, then how can I get the firefox sync to work on my iPhone? Right now, I have all of my computers using the sync, so I can have all my bookmarks across of all my devices, and I want this capability on my iPhone as well. Anyway to do that?

I have the latest version, 57.0.2 on two desktops and they refuse to communicate bookmarks with sync. 1. Turned off sync on both devices. 2. Turn on sync on comp 1. 3. Wait a while. 4. Turn on sync on comp 2. 5. Wait a while. 6. Sync works with addons and other settings. Fine!

Not a bookmark in sight on comp 2! What is going on? I don't like the idea of having a stick with a bookmarks-file to update manually when I mover around... I've searched everywhere but obviously I have missed something.

Any tips?

hi all mozilla did an update today and now all my saved logins and passwords have disappeared. I googled a few answers and it states to delete this file secmode.db. I cant find this currently. I have also been using mozilla firefox account which supposedly saves the details somewhere. Can anyone please point me in the right direct step by step to recover these missing logons details or how to restore them please.

How do I know that sync has completed successfully and that it is safe to close the browser?

(1) I am not sure whether I have to start sync manually (tools/sync now) or if this is taken care of automatically on an ongoing basis.

(2) In any case, how do I know when sync has been completed successfully and it's safe to close the browser.

I just don't want to find myself on the road with my latest password updates or bookmarks missing.

I don't see any status info about the sync process. This is very disturbing and not exactly implying trust.

I have about 20-30 tabs opened in my computer (under Ubuntu), and a fresh installation of Windows XP in my laptop. Both have the last version of Firefox. I used the option for replacing data in other devices with the existing data in my computer. It seems to sync for several minutes (the button have an animation), first in my computer and then in my laptop when I open the browser. I get all my data synced except for opened tabs.

Also, do Sync take into account the groups of tabs? I usually organize my opened tabs in groups when I'm working in several topics. I'd like to have that exact organization in my two machines.

I have even tried going to the desktop and going to Tools and clicking "Sync Now". [check]

What am I possibly missing here? This is the process that I go through to seek out the desktop's open tabs on my Android device, tell me if I'm doing this wrong.

1.) Open a fresh instance of the Firefox app 2.) Open a new tab 3.) Swipe left over to the History section 4.) Tap on the five dots at the bottom next to the clock to open the tab page

The only thing I get is "Your recent tabs show up here."

This is driving me up the wall, so any ideas or a remedy would bring back my sanity. Thank you.
