By default, the protocol prefix http:// is hidden on the Location bar. I like it. So, I don't change the preferrence 'browser.urlbar.trimURLs' to false.

But I don't like Firefox automatically adds http:// to the URL after I copy it from the Location bar.

Is there any way to prevent Firefox from automatically adding http:// ?

You can add a space at the begin to avoid getting a hppt prefix and copy the part after that space to the clipboard
