"The STAT command did not succeed. Error getting message number and sizes. Mail server pop.gmail.com responded: [AUTH] Invalid credentials" message. Desktop/Dell, Windows 10. Added gmail account last month. Worked normally. send and receive. 4 days ago, started to get this STAT message. Tried various solutions. Authentications shows Oauth2. I removed the account, then re-added it. Same message. gmail continues to work normally on my iPad/Safari.

Hello

no problem here with Thunderbird 102.4.2 (Ubuntu 22.04) same config Gmail pop3+OAuth2, so it's either a different version, a configuration error, or a Windows (software firewall, cookie setup?) issue. Gmail is supposed to allow for the creation of app passwords bypassing the use of OAuth2 if it's problematic, maybe you could check it out:

you need to enable 2FA on your Google account, though.
