I have noticed that some business websites do not work correctly with Firefox. Here are a few ; Lowes Home Improvement, NJ Covid vaccine, Labcorp, Picattiny Federal Credit Union, Clover Health, Walmart.

Could this be due the fact the fact that according java FF does not support the technology behind java?

In the case of Walmart, I was having a problem placing an order and asked for help, the email response did not mention FF.

For whatever reason, things are working again. Not sure if I did anything to correct problem or maybe there was a bug in a web site that was resolved.

Thanks for the responses.

Please explain the problem in detail. What happens? What is/are the exact error message(s) ?

Make sure you are not blocking content.

Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to. You may also lose any settings for that website.

Just a note that Firefox runs JavaScript, the main programming language of websites, but does not run the Java plugin. Currently, no browsers run the Java plugin, so Java probably is not the issue.

If a website says that you are blocking JavaScript, this sometimes indicates that an ad blocker or other content blockers has prevented an ad or tracking script from running. But sometimes blockers block too much, so you could take a look at whether to make an exception for the site.

The Java Plugin from Oracle and JavaScript in Firefox are two separate things as JavaScript was originally going to be called LiveScript. http://kb.mozillazine.org/JavaScript_is_not_Java

There is a change in Firefox 96 related to cookies and insecure sites.

See also:

As a workaround for now you can modify this pref on the about:config page to revert this change.

  • about:config => network.cookie.sameSite.laxByDefault = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, DuckDuckGo PE, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.

You can try these steps in case of issues with webpages:

You can reload webpage(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Settings).

"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"

"Clear the Cache":

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> [X] Cached Web Content -> Clear

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

Sorry to say but the suggestions don't work.

Previously when at walmart.com was able to select store and enter my zipcode . Now can't. This was done while in troubleshooting mode.

Thanks to anyone that replied

Where in the process does the problem start? For example, do you get the overlay popping up on the right side of the page when you click either the store link or the location link on the home page? Then after updating that form, does Save work? (Those seem to be working normally for me at the moment; I didn't log in first.)

Clearing Cache and Cookies: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Clear Firefox's Cache

See: How to clear the Firefox cache

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, click the lock icon at the left end of the address bar. After a moment, a "Clear Cookies and Site Data" button should appear at the bottom. Go ahead and click that.

In the dialog that opens, you will see one or more matches to the current address so you can remove the site's cookies individually without affecting other sites.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
