I know this is probably a repeat request.

Thunderbird Linux 78 does not send messages. I changed the TLS setting to 1 as prescribed; it didn't work.

I can't get a screen shot as it "flashes" by upon send, then the message sits on the screen with the "send" button greyed out.

Thanks, Ulysses

Tried these and they don't work. I had a similar problem with a Thunderbird years ago. Not sure if it was windows or Linus. The solution then was to downgrade to a previous version. Lots of work...

Is there an error in the error console related to sending? (Ctrl+Shift +J) It usually helps to clear the console and then undertake the action as there is a lot of stuff logged there and trying to decide what is relevant is a task in itself.

Have you previously turned on the preference to send in background? It is not enabled by default because send errors are lost in that mode, but there is plenty of advice on the web telling folks how to enable it.

FYI changing TLS to one reduces your security significantly and doing so is only justified if you have a mail provider that is still in the 1990s and refuses to take mail security seriously. TLS was release in 1999 and the initial release was superseded in 2006 with V1.1 which in turn was superseded in 2008 and the current version of TLS 1.3 was released in 2018.

Here is a picture of my console..........This is after clearing it and trying to "resend" an email in my drafts folder.

Also noted in the settings that the TLS is set to 4 and the fallback is set to 4. Apparently TB is trying to force a 1.3 connection only.

This may also be relevant .....I have multiple gmail accounts plus some G Suite accounts connected which all worked until the upgrade.

is this version actually installed or running from your temporary directory? Those errors would indicate that basically you do not have access to half your profile, so I am wondering exactly what read write allocate access you have to the folder containing it.

Matt, Thank you for responding and your suggestions. I was "off the grid" for about a week. Was at a cabin that has no connectivity; no electrical, no plumbing....

What I thought to try is to disable all add ons. I did this and the basic thunderbird will send. I am going to enable individual add-ons until the sending function stops working. Keep you and this forum posted.
