By default, Mozilla Thunderbird searches the Inbox folder of the Local Folders account (which typically holds all your incoming mail from POP accounts). You can choose any folder in any account (IMAP mailboxes, too), but all folders must be under the same account.

the incoming box (Inbox)is where the e-mail traffic ends up that lets you receive an e-mail in the inbox by the pre-set client provider and server. You can set this yourself to how you want it, just thunderbird gmail and so on.

If you delete the program Thunderbird you will also lose your inbox email. but these emails are also stored in one of the folders they call the mail profile-folder and can also be found on your PC. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird

The local folders do not receive them as a first preiorty. But the receiving inbox is the first reciever of all e-mail traffic. Direct from the recieving server that recieved from the sender with your new mail. Then Thunderbird stores it in the profile maps. This maps are in your local folders on your pc.
