Text Color selection just got more cumbersome - any way to improve it?

In a recent upgrade, the "Text Color" dialog was changed, so that to pick a color I now have to additionally click on the black bar to get another popup with the color choices. Then, after selecting a color, I have to click OK to go back to the first dialog and then click OK again. WHY??? Is there a way to get it to work like it did previously, where it was all on one dialog?

Additionally, the color choices changed - the 3-4 colors I use most frequently have all been replaced by less pleasant variants. And whatever code changes happened also made the old extension "LastColour" incompatible (despite it's age, it still worked until the latest update to TB). If there is another add-on that will offer a keyboard shortcut to choose the last color, and/or an add-on that would allow me to configure hotkeys for my favorite handful of colors, I'm all ears.
