While browsing pages in Firefox (version 75 on Linux), the page constantly jumps either to the top or bottom.
When browsing websites in Firefox 75 (on a Linux machine), pages display fine, but when I begin scrolling either by using the page up/down keys, the mouse scrolling wheel or the scroll bars, the page will jump either to the bottom or the top. I've not been able to determine any particular circumstance when it jumps down or when it jumps down.
Other browsers (okay, I've only tried in Chromium) pages do not behave this way. Also, this behaviour has persisted over Firefox versions. The previous versions did this as well. It also has persisted over an OS upgrade as well.
I am not aware of any keyboard, mouse or browser settings I may have mistakenly enabled, but of course, that's possible.

Hi Nada, I don't know whether the following is related, but it's worth a check:
Open the Preferences / Options page:
- Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
- Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
- Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
- Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it
On the General panel, scroll down to the Browsing section.
If the checkbox for "Always use the cursor keys to navigate within pages" is checked, try unchecking it. (If it's unchecked, try checking and unchecking it.)
Any improvement?
Note that you can toggle the 'caret browsing' feature with the F7 key.
You can disable F7 via this pref on the about:config page.

cor-el, I also tried your solution, but that also did not work. Caret browsing wasn't turned on in any event. Thanks for your suggestion as well!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

No difference in Safe Mode. Even this very page jumps around on me from time to time while in Safe Mode.
It's gotten to the point I'm trying out some other browsers, each of which seems to have its own issues.

Which Linux distro and desktop environment are you using?
Hi Nada, I have an issue where after starting the computer (or maybe logging in?), scrolling with any USB-connected mouse is sometimes greatly accelerated (with wire or Bluetooth). The only way I know to fix this is to unplug the mouse at the USB connection, then replug. For me this is not a Firefox issue, it affects all windows. It might not fix your issue, but it's easy to try.

The issue pre-dates my recent upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04. I was using 19.10 previously. I'm using the default UI, plus Plank.

I have been using wireless mice over the last few months. I recently upgraded to a Razer something-or-other. Previously, I had a Logitech G series.
