You may be in Private Browsing mode or told Firefox not to remember.

Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar. The button next to History, select Use Custom Settings.

Turn off Always Use Private Browsing Mode Turn on Remember My Browsing And Download History At the bottom of the page, turn on Clear History When Firefox Closes. At the far right, press the Settings button. Turn on ONLY Cache and Form And Search History leaving the others off.

Update on this problem:

I tried Fred's way and it saves my history for 2 days only, Today and Yesterday. When verifying the integrity of the databases, it says they are sane, but after that, and a restart of FF, all the history is gone again. Before running integrity, it showed historyvisits as 156.

I attached an image of my history settings.

Profile data can be removed or not recorded in several ways;

• 1) Running Firefox in Private Mode (nothing is recorded)
• 2) Privacy settings; (In the address bar, type about:preferences#privacy<enter>)
• 3) Many disk cleaners and anti-virus type programs can remove data from browsers. Open their settings and have them leave the browsers alone.
• 4) Mal-ware.

If "Verify Integrity" cannot repair places.sqlite, rename/remove all places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder. Firefox will rebuild places.sqlite and restore the bookmarks from a recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

• keep a backup copy of places.sqlite in case a new places.sqlite database has to be created

No external cleanup software used. I use Advanced System Care for my anti-virus and all privacy sweeps are disabled. Flash player is a firefox add-on/extension.Probably going to try and find a program that will monitor my history and save it. I need it quite often for my work.

It's funny.... This morning I went online and there was 3 days of history still being tracked. But when I started browsing and went back to my history, it was all gone. Just today showed up. Closed FF and restarted and it was still gone. Something else is going on, but not sure what yet....

Are you positive you have nothing else installed? E.g., CCleaner, which is fine, but comes with a default autorun setting.

And in Advanced Systemcare, you mentioned Privacy Sweep is off, but what about Junk File Clean?

All automatic cleaning is turned off in ASC. Even when it was on, Firefox was not checked in Junk file clean options. No CCleaner. I went through my whole program files and both program directories trying to find something, but no good.

See also the sessionCheckpoints.json file in the profile folder that is used to verify whether all sanitizing actions have been finished on the last closure and if not then they will be done on the next start. You can keep a backup copy of places.sqlite and compare the content or time stamp of places.sqlite with your backup before starting Firefox.

If this is only happening irregularly then it is quite likely that there is a external cause.

You can boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen or hold down the Shift key) to see if that has effect.
