I can't log in. Account looks like it disappeared. It keeps telling me to set up an account but I've been using it for many years. All is lost.
I restarted laptop & could not access Thunderbird email. It keeps wanting me to set up an account.

For whatever reason Thunderbird forgot about the existence of your profile. Follow the instructions on how to move a profile. If the 'disappearance' happened after a TB update, you might be able to restore it by deleting the global search sqlite file:
