Trying to get the sync to work with this laptop and my iMac, too, not just with my cellphone. But when I click to connect with another device, it only offers a window to put my cellphone number in, which is already synced!! How am I supposed to sync to my other computer, without going round & round in circles???? The image below is the only thing that opens when I click on "Connect another device"...

The Connect another device button is kind of misleading. All that does is send a link to download Firefox to your phone.

If you want to connect an additional computer, you need to do so from the computer that you want to add. You go into the Firefox preferences and sign into Firefox Sync, similar to how I assume you did your first computer.

For information is available on the How do I set up Sync on my computer? page.

Hope this helps.

The instructions are very misleading, and when I select "connect another device", it just wants my phone number, as if that's the only kind of device there is.

So then I looked further and found "sync now". Clicked on that, and nothing happened. Clicked again, nothing happened, FOUR TIMES nothing happened. Network discovery is on both machines, but nothing is showing.

Do I have to set up FF manually or is there a way to transfer ALL my settings and preferences by porting.

You need to login to your Firefox account on every device that you want to sync. So if you want to connect your computer and laptop to Firefox Sync, you need to login from both devices. See How do I set up Sync on my computer? for more information.

The Sync Now button tells Firefox to check the data on Firefox Sync to make sure that there's nothing new to sync. If, for example, you add a new bookmark on Computer A and it doesn't show up on Computer B automatically, pressing that button on Computer B will grab the new data.

Hopefully that clears things up.

Perfect. That's the one detail I hadn't thought about, that I needed to be logged in from both devices. Thanks very much.

Its a known issue that will hopefully be fixed soon: Bug 1464762 After login, the prompt text to install mobile version is easily misunderstood

Bug 1602000 Account login requires a smartphone number; I don't own one.

Well, I must've done something right, as it's showing all my devices in the left-hand margin. I did sign in on my two computers, but am pretty sure I had done that already, so maybe it was the prompt to download FF to my phone, that just confused the issue, as it very misleading..

I would like to know how to delete the list of tabs, as I definitely don't need them all visible. Thanks all...
