If that SeaMonkey version uses key4.db then copy logins.json and key4.db to the current profile folder, otherwise use key3.db instead of key4.db and remove an existing key4.db.

If this SeaMonkey version still use signons.sqlite then you need to remove an existing logins.json and reset this pref via the right-click context menu on the about:config page.

So I have a key3.db & a logins.json with current date in the Seamonkey folder. Do I just delete the logins.json &key4.db from the firefox dir & copy the key3.db & a logins.json to the firefox dir or do I have to rename key file to key4.db?

If you have logins.json and key3.db from SeaMonkey then you need to remove key4.db in the Firefox profile folder when you copy these two files. You can replace the current logins.json in the Firefox profile folder by logins.json from SeaMonkey and copy key3.db from SeaMonkey as well to the Firefox profile folder. Firefox needs to be closed when you copy these files.

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.

Congratulations for having imported your bookmarks from Seamonkey 2.49.5. I have been toying around with the .json file, converting it to .html but Firefox plainly ignores it. Can you share how you did it? Many thanks.

Current Firefox releases can use the JSON format used by SeaMonkey with logins.json. If you place this logins.json file (and replace a possible existing logins.json) in the Firefox profile folder then Firefox should find it. The problem is more likely the key file that stores the encryption key. If SeaMonkey still uses key3.db then you need to remove the existing key4.db file that current Firefox releases use. Firefox can only fallback to key3.db if there isn't a key4.db file present. Of course you need to make sure that Firefox is closed when you make changes to the profile folder.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
