New add-on does not appear in toolbar (or toolbar items list)
I have Firefox 68.0.1 on Linux Mint 18.2. I recently added Easy Youtube Downloader Express from addons.mozilla.org, but despite appearing on the list of addons as enabled, the new extension does not appear in my toolbar or on the list of items to include in the toolbar when I click on customize. I have closed and restarted both firefox and my machine, and removed and reinstalled the addon but none of this has helped.

After searching in some obscure page, I found the answer. Apparently this is the only downloader addon that does not create an icon. Sorry for the trouble and thanks a ton for the help.

Thanks for the reply. It is my understanding that Adobe no longer develops the flash player for firefox running on Linux. What I have is Shockwave Flash. I can watch videos with no problems and use other download addons. Do you think having only Shockwave is a problem with Easy Youtube Downloader?
Shockwave is flash player. Some websites still use flash but many have switched to the HTML5 player.

It’s possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.
Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.
Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder
Linux: Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Directory. To its right press the button Open Directory.
Delete all extensions* files and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.
After, restart Firefox.

Hi. Thanks again for your help. As far as I can tell, the only icon/item missing in the toolbar items menu is the Easy Downloader.
I followed the procedure you laid out, but the problem persists. I even did it a second time with the extension removed but nothing changed. I also read the links you provided. It does not appear to be a compatibility problem, else this procedure should have fixed it. It's apparently not an installation issue because I can see the extension enabled on the list of addons. Yet, the item refuses to appear on the toolbar items menu.
By the way, I also tried installing another Downloader addon and had no problems there.

"Shockwave Flash" is the old name for "Flash Player" which is available for Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux at https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
The "Shockwave (for director) Player" Plugin is not to be confused with "Shockwave Flash" as it is a different NPAPI Plugin not really supported by any web browser now days for a good while now except maybe IE. This NPAPI Plugin was not available for Linux. The "Shockwave Player" is pretty much discontinued now https://helpx.adobe.com/shockwave/shockwave-end-of-life-faq.html
Adobe has been supporting NPAPI Flash on Linux with the same branch as for Windows and Mac OSX again since December 2016. Before that (not including Beta builds in testing months before) only the old 11.2 extended support branch was being supported on Linux (NPAPI) for some years.
Though now days many websites are making use of HTML5 player only or alongside the (NPAPI) Flash Player Plugin for video, audio and games.
