Please can someone help with this issue.

My Podcasts USED to be on the top bar, easy to just click and open. In Quantum I cannot find them, they do not show on the top bar also NASA image of the day used to be on the top bar, again easy to open, now I cannot find them.
Please can someone help?

Is this about bookmarks on the Bookmarks Toolbar?

more options

cor-el , Please may I explain. I understand about bookmarks. Before Quantum I used to be able to go to a website, say BBC, and register for podcasts which they would send me weekly or daily. The podcast icon for BBC would sit on the top bar and all I had to do was click the icon and the latest podcast would open and also there would be a list of previous podcasts. Since Quantum, podcasts have stopped. I went to the sites and registered for podcasts and if they are arriving I don,t see them. Please where are they going or does Quantum not allow podcasts? It was so simple, now it seems to be so complicated. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Bariss.

Did you possibly had a (Legacy) extension that stopped working in Firefox 57+ that added this feature if this isn't about bookmarks?

You can find disabled Legacy extension on the about:addons page (Ctrl+Shift+A) under Unsupported.

I thought that being able to go to a site and register for podcasts was part of the Firefox system not a separate addon . I followed your instruction above and went to the addon,s page but was unable to find legacy extentions. All I found were hundreds of different addons. With respect this is getting me no where....All I want is to get back to where I was...to be able to go to a sight and register for podcasts and actually have the system work like it did before Quantum fouled everything up!!! Is this too much to ask? Please may I ask..Do you actually understand what I am saying? In previous Firefox I could register for podcasts at a web sight and they would arrive on the top bar, click the podcast icon and hey presto! it opened. Kind regards, Clangerx.

Just to make sure :

You are not talking about RSS Feeds but about Podcasts, as shown in this screenshot :

I apologise. I have a feeling I have been talking at cross purpose. What I know as podcast is I think an RSS feed. I have never seen the screen shot above but the mention of RSS feed does ring a bell. Please can I have some help in understanding how to make RSS feeds work in Quantum. I am an old chap with MS so you may need some patience. Kind fregards, Bariss.

Hi Bariss, do you display Firefox's classic menu bar along the top (File, Edit, View, etc.)? If not, you can activate that menu bar temporarily by tapping the Alt key or F10 key on the keyboard.

The Bookmarks menu will have "Subscribe to this page..." active (not grayed out) when you are on a page that advertises an RSS feed. If you add it to Firefox as a "Live bookmark" then the feed will appear on the Bookmarks Menu or Bookmarks Toolbar and you can maneuver it into a convenient position for quick access.

However, I'm not aware of a way to place a live bookmark directly on a toolbar without an add-on.

Absolutely no need to apologize  !

Maybe this will shine a little light on the matter

At last I am starting to understand. I worked out how to display the menu bar by using the overflow menu in Quantum to drag items to the top bar eg; home, history, bookmarks email etc;. yesterday.

So I have to be on a web page ie; BBC, and click the RSS feed before 'subscribe to this page' will show as active in the bookmarks page THEN I can add 'Live bookmarks' to Firefox and will be able to drag it to the top bar. Have I got it right? Thank you for your patience..... Thank you Happy 12 for the link explaining podcasts.

This will explain a bit more about how RSS Feed works with the BBC :

To JSCHER 20000 and HAPPY 112 Thank you for all the pages to help with my issue. I went to BBC and tried to apply the suggestion from JSCHER but drew a blank. I opened Bookmarks then Bookmarks toolbar then Veiw toolmarks toolbar, click NASA Image of the day and a list opened up of all the Image of the Day for the last two years. I clicked the latest and it went to the NASA website, normally it just opens as an RSS feed or podcast on my computer without going to the website. When I was on the BBC website I did not see the 'Subscribe to this page' in my bookmarks menu even though I was in the RSS feed page on the site and it did not show when I subscribed to to news feed. I am obviously doing something wrong but cannot work it out, Kind regards, Bariss.

To Happy 112 : I went to options : general : applications : and changed the Podcast icons to 'Add Live Bookmarks in Firefox' but am still not seeing the RSS feed podcast icons on the top bar. Please see my reply to JSCHER 2000 above. The RSS feed list is on my computer and I can open them BUT it takes me straight to the web site which defeats the purpose of the Podcast. Sorry if I am being difficult but all I want is to able to click the podcast icon on the top bar and have it open on my computer. Thank your for all your help, Kind regards, Bariss.

You are absolutely not being difficult  !

Between you and I (don't tell anyone) : I don't have a clue how this works.
The best I could do was to see if I could find articles that might be helpful to you.

'Leaving you in the capable hands of jscher2000 and/or others ....

The thing I don,t understand is that it used to work perfectly on the previous Firefox programs or whatever they are called. It was so simple and now it has all become a little difficult.

The clutter on the homepage with all the little boxes which really are just history made visible are just so..............annoying, why did they do it?

Before Quantum the home page was simplicity itself, all I needed was on the top bar, now it is cluttered......Thank you for your help,

Kind regards, Bariss .

Can't let it go just yet, cause I wondered  :

Did you press the Alt key and then (at the upper left side) click on 'Bookmarks' => 'Subscribe to this page' (when you are on a page that advertises an RSS feed)  ?

I'm asking because of your reply to jscher2000 :

" I opened Bookmarks then Bookmarks toolbar "

As for the 'clutter' on the home page :

I assume that you are talking about the 'new' New Tab page , which is also your home page  ?

There's a lot you can change - when you click on the little cog wheel (upper right corner) you'll see quite a few options there.

Also see : https://www.ghacks.net/2017/09/13/firefox-57-disable-highlights-on-the-new-tab-page/

You could (if you're still not happy) consider this add-on :

My pleasure  !

I noticed that you marked my post as Chosen Solution, but I haven't been able to solve your main problem, though. There's still the RSS feed / Podcast problem to be solved .....

You can remove the Chosen Solution mark from my post by clicking on the 'Undo' button to the right of that post .
