Firefox crashes
Yesterday Firefox was working perfectly. This is happening on a Windows XP system. But today when I try to open it an window briefly flashes (it says something about starting in safe mode but isn't available long enough to click on it) and the Crash Reporter appears. The Crash Reporter also fails. The details window are shown below.

In addition, I can't get Firefox to start in safe mode either.

I've tried reloading Firefox, rebooting, virus scans, etc but the problem persists.
This is such a nasty problem I have to use Chrome to report this issue.
I've attempted to attach the most recent .dmp file.

hi GaryMonnier, thanks for providing a crash report id. we have seen quite a number of similar reports about this issue in the last hours and this issue is likely caused by your symantec security software that is hooking into firefox (probably through a program/signature update done by them). other users reported that updating firefox in this situation helped with the crashes. you can download & install the latest firefox from https://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-48.0.2-sha1&os=win&lang=en-US
