For a while now I have had a problem with something continuing to run. On the Inbox tab of Thunderbird the "busy" icon continues to cycle indicating that something is running. The stop icon next to it is either greyed out or is black but does nothing when clicked. When I open the activity manager I show multiple calendars in the process of synchronizing. The status bars are to the far right seemingly to indicate that they are just about complete. I have included an image of the activity manager. This causes everything to run slow though everything appears to work. I currently run Windows 7, Thunderbird 45 and Lightning 4.7. The problem started prior to updating to these current versions of Thunderbird and Lightning. I had hoped that updating would correct the problem. I'd like to correct the problem while continuing the ability to use all calendars if possible. Is this a problem with my system or with the software? Is this a false indicator and nothing is actually running? I appreciate any help. Thanks.

As for theft security. Thunderbird's Master Password feature encrypts all stored passwords. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/master-password#thunderbird:win7:tb45

The same facility exists in Firefox. So if your device is stolen, the thief needs your master password before any account can be accessed with saved passwords.

In Thunderbird mail (RSS feeds are different) the only passwords will be oauth2.0 tokens, and they are weird encrypted strings that really only make sense in the context of the handshake. THey also require your password from the password manager before they can start the process.

OK. I already have cookies enabled (though I thought I didn't.) I copied and pasted the URL into the proper location when attempting to set up a CalDav calendar and changed it to include my email. A box comes up requesting user id and password which I enter. Then I get the cookies need to be enabled "error". I enabled CalDav synchronization for all of my calendars. I used config editor to adjust network.http.spdy.enabled.http2draft but I don't have that entry to change. After making a few attempts to get the calendar to connect I still get the cookies need to be enabled "error". Eventually Thunderbird crashes. I"m beginning to think that there is no answer which will work for me.

UPDATE ...

I still have not been able to get CalDav calendars to work. I still have the cookies "error" despite following all the steps covered by Matt in his CalDav calendars post (as I mentioned in an earlier reply). However, this morning I started Thunderbird and did not have the problem of any of the calendars not completing their sync. After almost 3 hours the calendars started to automatically sync even though they are all set to manual. I don't know if this is part of the original issue or an additional issue so I posted here.
