I am a seasoned .NET developer (C# web applications) that has used Firefox for years. I'm one of those guys that has a Firefox t-shirt and wear it proudly. It's the best browser there is IMO.

Recently, F5 stopped working. It no longer refreshed websites. More importantly, CTRL-F5 does not work. I re-installed FF and got it working but it recently stopped working, again. I use CTRL-F5 all the time to see style changes on websites and I really need this to work. I've scoured online threads, including 831402 that is archived. I cannot find the cause or solution.

Does any mozilla support person, or other FF user, know the cause and can provide a solution? I really appreciate it.

(if you need any additional info, let me know!)

Thanks!

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Oh, forgot to mention ... right-click refresh button is not working either.

Well shoot ... I'm hoping I just answered my own question!

I removed some un-needed/wanted extensions and VOILA, F5 and CTRL-F5 started working!

Moderator, you can close this for now. Hopefully, my hard-refreshes continue to work. I use CTRL-F5 all the time.
