Firefox OS 1.3 - Is there any way to Copy / Paste?

I can hardly live without this feature, but I know 1.3 doesn't have it, and I'm stuck with an Alcatel OneTouch Fire. There must be a way to work around this limitation, however. Does anyone have any idea?

P.s.: I'm loving the phone and the OS so far and I can easily put up with the lack of apps (by developing whatever I need), but no selection / copy & paste? That's tough...

There is app on Marketplace that allows you to copy/paste.

I've tried that (Copy Paste Keyboard), but it says it only works on 2.0 now. So my question stands still.

Unfortunately not. Copy and paste was not introduced until latter versions. I do apologize for the inconvenience. If you can get yourself onto a newer version, that would be the only way.

Technically speaking, as a C, C++, and JavaScript coder, isn't there anything I could do? I really like this Alcatel phone, I didn't want to change so quick, I bought it just a couple days ago.

If there's really nothing I can do, then I'll just live without copy/paste for some time and buy a new Firefox phone later on, but if there's any weird hack I could try, or if anyone could give me a few pointers for possibly implementing it, I'm very gladly taking suggestions :)

Thanks!

I would suggest updating/ installing to a higher version than 1.3 rather, than push something that is technically more challenging. 1.3 is honestly not supported anymore by our devs.

Got it. That's very frustrating, shame is one me for not having done a better research before buying this phone :( I had no idea Firefox OS was at version 3.0 already, to be honest.

Do you have any phone suggestions of the same price range as the Alcatel OneTouch Fire that support Firefox OS 3.0?

Or rather, did you suggest it might be possible to install later versions of the OS on this device? If so, how?

Also, I found the experience pretty smooth for such an underpowered phone, and I'm worried that newer versions of Firefox OS will require better hardware. Is this the case?

Should I open a new question thread for this second discussion?

Thanks.

The latest right now should be 2.5 unless that changed recently. Higher end models are available for sure. You can see the devices available with Firefox OS here: http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/os/devices/

I do apologize for any inconvenience, but since you already have the device, like I already said, I'd suggest digging into it and installing a newer version which performs and does more as well..

Well, if I can update to a later version with this same device, that would be awesome. However the in-phone updates only go as far as 1.3. I'll see if I can find instructions on how to install 2.5 on a phone and see if I can do it on this one. Links are welcome, but don't worry too much if you don't have them handy :-)

Thanks again!
