Yesterday FF upgraded from version 29 to 30 all good until I logged out of Hotmail and got a portal tickler homepage, I get the option for 9MSN, MSN USA or I know where I want to go don't show me this again. When I click the latter nothing happens so I tried opening Hotmail again twice clicking the other two options and the same, nothing happens??? At the bottom left corner of the page it says - javascriptvoid;(0) - when I click the option and the page turns a faded blue with a circle turning as if it's loading but nothing happens. I have cleared all history several times but this doesn't help either, the result is the same. I would appreciate it very much if anyone could shed any light on this problem for me. Thank you very much for your time and effort cheers have a good one.

In Australia had the same problem when signing out of Outlook and the screen freezes at the portal tickler page and options to select ninemsn or msn or don't ask again don't work.

Tried a few things then looked at Adblock Plus at "Open blockable items". Found two items on Portal Tickler signout blocked. Changed Adblock Plus to "Disable on this page only" and selected ninemesn on the screen and the portal tickler page never comes up again on sign out from Outlook. Seems Adblock Plus and Portal Tickler don't play nice together.

Also check your timezone in Outlook options as mine had changed to Lord Howe Island instead of Brisbane since the change with One Drive?

What is a portal tickler homepage and all the rest?

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or even add / mal-ware. Look thru your add-ons list and make sure you know what each one is there for. Also, check the programs that are on your computer

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder Linux:

  • Ubuntu Unity {web link}
  • Xfce: Applications Menu category sections
  • options depends on the package manager and the desktop environment

Go thru the list. If you find something that you don't know what it is, use a web search.

Here is a screenshot that might help identify what the problem is, hopefully.

Hi jazzie5, I've got the same problem using Google Chrome. I get the same portal page after logging out of Hotmail. The only solution I can find is to press the ESCAPE key and then you'll be taken to the ninemsn default page.

I've had the same problem for 2 days now. I copied and pasted the sentence, ' Are you looking for your local MSN site?' The search came up with a couple of results dating back to 2011. I've tried clearing cookies, resetting my browser etc but nothing changes it. Just hit the esc key and it should take you to the ninemsn page.

Has anyone tried the Don't Show This Again?

I've clicked all three options, MSN Australia, MSN USA and the I know where I want to go don't show this again, but still nothing happens the page just sits there with the wheel turning like it's loading but doesn't. Strange... I've run Malwarebytes, Spybot search and destroy. I've also checked my add-ons but there is nothing there that shouldn't be there. I have checked Google but nothing but old answers, nothing relating to FF30.

It could be a script is not working. Try contacting the provider for help. See if anything on these pages is blocked.

Go to the web page and sign in. After the page is loading, mouse to the address bar and LEFT click the icon. A window for displaying site information should come up. Select More Information. Look thru all the menu items.

Thanks FredMcD I'll try that out now as I'm just about to log out Hotmail again cheers.

It is not a FF30 problem or a Chrome problem. The problem may be with either Outlook or MSN. The problem is the redirection by default after logging out of Hotmail, possibly a Microsoft script problem.

Thanks irene1 I'll go hassle Microsoft and see if it helps us, cheers I'll be back as soon as I find any info that helps.

Thanks jazzie5. I've spent so many hours trying to figure out what the problem is but to no avail. Somewhere in my searching i saw a possible cause, a GET error 302 in which case possibly a Microsoft script redirection problem.

Same problem happens with IE9 as well.

Hi Folks, I just sent an email via the MSN page with a screen shot, so just have to wait and see what they say. I wouldn't imagine them to break any speed records but as soon as I hear back I will post the response. Cheers have a good one.

Jazzie5, Now after I sign out of Hotmail I'm redirected to the US MSN page. This started happening today. The easiest solution I found was to add an Extension from the Google store for my browser. after following the instructions for the extension I am now redirected to the Outlook sign on page! There is also a redirection Add on for Firefox as well. I will copy and paste the url link to Microsoft Community forum. The solution is from Moi-MA further down the page who posted on June 12, 2014......http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/oaccount-omyinfo/how-do-i-prevent-the-outlook-logout-from/0e491165-c746-43aa-91c7-6ce8a7151d9e?page=2. Hope this helps.

Hi Irene1, DCool posted a fix that worked for this problem if your running Adblock Plus. Do what DCool says then close the browser and log in to your email again and all should be good. I hope this helps, back to normal my end all good.

Thanks jazzie5, unfortunately there is no " Open blockable items ' feature when using Adblock Plus for Chrome. Instead the extension Switcheroo Redirector for Chrome has worked for me. After sign out from Outlook I no longer go to the ninemsn site now but instead have configured the extension to go to the google homepage. I haven't been using FF since they upgraded to v30, seems there are a few problems with FF v30 with another extension I use for Facebook called Social Fixer. But in anycase I'm glad there is a solution in FF for the portal tickler.

Thanks DCool. I blocked all items that included 'tickler in their address via Adblock plus. The problem I now have is that when I sign out of Outlook/Hotmail Firefox closes. Is tickler still active in some way or did I block too many items? Unfortunately I did not record all items I have blocked. I then uninstalled Firefox and re-installed it via IE. Firefox still closes when I sign out of Outlook/Hotmail Incidentally the tickler page appeared when I tried to start IE asking me if I wanted to access msn and would only let me proceed when I clicked on the button. (The buttons on the closing tickler page do not work). My OS is WIndows 7 but my other computer on this network uses XP and has the same tickler problem. Is their any way out of this?
